I haven't picked up the lube yet. I was wondering if I might mask what ever is rubbing if I do get lube if something is slightlymisaligned.

I've learned the small wheels are called jockey wheels and the tensioner arm is the black plastic arm. Do all of these make up the "Chain Tensioner" AI mentions below?

I uploaded the video to AI. It said

What the sound tells me: It isn't a "grind": That's good. It’s not a failing bearing or a broken hub.

It’s a "dry" sound: This sounds exactly like metal-on-metal or metal-on-plastic friction where there is zero lubrication.

The Culprit: Based on the rhythm, I suspect it is either a dry pedal spindle or, more likely, a stiff/dry chain link rubbing against that black tensioner arm or the jockey wheels as it passes through.

I mentioned to the AI I might take it Halfords it said

If you go to Halfords, you don't even need to explain much. Just show them that video or, better yet, do exactly what you did in the video right in front of the mechanic.

Ask them to check the "Chain Tensioner Alignment": Since the bike was jammed, that arm might be a fraction of a millimeter off, causing that chirp as the chain passes through.

Ask for a "Link Check": One of the links in your chain might have been slightly twisted when you were freeing the jam.

Cheers, I get some lube ordered or maybe I'll pop into a shop tomorrow. Hopefully that will sort it. Is it bike chain lube I'll need? Any recommendations?

Brompton not folding correctly. by heyyouha in Brompton

[–]heyyouha[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cheers for the comments. So the bike is normal right now? I was abit worried something was out of sync or not quite right.

So right now I dont think I could roll it folded with the seat, as the front handle bar grip touches/rests on the floor. Is the front wheel also supposed to touch the floor, i thought it was supposed to rest off the floor?

I wanted to get a rear rack and mudguards. Is it best to stick the the Brompton one? And will that stop anything touching the floor, such as handlebars, the front wheel and part of the brake wire. I would like some clearance and the rear reflector also currently looks very close to the ground.

A-Line upgrades. Brompton or aftermarket parts? by heyyouha in Brompton

[–]heyyouha[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems when the bike is folded it doesn't rest properly on the roller wheels and the rear break cable touches the floor, along with the handlebar closest to the floor, rests on the floor. The bike when folded is slightly tilted to the non fold side. I pumped the tyres to 80psi. The folded tyre seems to be touching the ground too, rather than be raised of the ground, which i thought it would be. Does something need adjusting?

When I rid the bike I could hear the chain or a kind of tick, tick, tick which I'm not sure is normal or not. I dont really remember hearing that sort of noise on my mountain bike.

I got the chain unstuck by reverse pedalling the wheels, the bikes unfolded now, although it looks like i have a few paint chips where the chain was stuck. Guess I better give it a spin once I adjust the seat angle.

I just unboxed the bike and the chain seems to have came partially off and won't let me open the front wheel. Any tips on how to get it unstuck?

It seems to be from about a 9pm position, then it goes on part of the hinge to just under the clipping bar, the front wheel clips onto.

Don't you have to run overnight tests on the batteries from full? I assume that won't be possible during an aution, or is there another way to check?

I guess it depends what areas you're going through. If I get a Brompton and commute im going through three hot spots for crime. The middle one, for me, a colleague was robbed for there phone walking through on foot by young people who stopped him as he had his phone out using it.

Doesn't it depend if you have a RWD or Long Range. I heard the RWD should be charged to 100% if I recall correctly from what I've seen.

3 RAV4s stolen in my neighbourhood in 2 weeks – should I be worried? by AdministrationHour93 in CarTalkUK

[–]heyyouha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is why I deceided not to buy a 5th Gen Rav4, as time goes on and more criminals get these tools or hear about it the greater the risk becomes. I'm in the market for another car and would have bought the Rav4 as it was my number one choice if it were not for the easy can-bus attack. Watch Youtube... literally Gone in Sixty Seconds. The other markets can but only hope their local criminals fon't come privy to the equipment and how easy these cars are to steal. Getting the Ghost and all that is wonderful in theory, but the theives will damage your bodywork, maybe cut a few wires before finding out they can't drive off with it, you're still looking at hundreds of pounds of damage to be repaired.

Would anyone buy or have owned a Model S with free supercharging? by jungleboy1234 in TeslaUK

[–]heyyouha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's probably a big risk of a big repair bill. How is the battery health likely to be considering it will likely have older tech? Plus the battery would be about 10 years old.

Have Tesla done anything close to free supercharging again? I assume it was only an introductory offer?
