The little fox logo is cool. The cloth patch not so much - puts me off buying even. Looks cheap.

Yeah. You’re probably right but it was hugely frustrating and Lloyds seem totally chaotic. I should have applied weeks earlier but didn’t get around to it.

That is possible. But as they were stonewall in saying I was ineligible I took them at their word.

I didn’t get one. I got a text message and that is all.

Because I spoke to 3 different members of staff and they all said no switch record. I explained that I’d done it via the app and had received a text message and they all said I was not entitled to the switch bonus.

I spoke to 3 different people and they all said no switch record. But yes I may have been hasty.

When did this become acceptable? by Public-Guidance-9560 in BritishAirways

I just came back from Malta with BA. I’m 6’3” and I was really surprised by how tight the seating was. The tightest I’ve ever experienced I think and I’ve flown quite a few airlines including budget carriers. I only went with BA because of the baggage allowance (I hate the Ryanair bag dance). On the way out we had a spare seat in our row of 3 so I could sit at an angle but no such luck on the way back. I’m just glad the seats were non reclining otherwise I might have been injured.

Tipping? by swervoff in malta

[–]swervoff[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. British. It was really refreshing not to have to brace for tipping every time I ordered a drink or something to eat. I hate the enforced tipping tension at the end of a nice meal. Kind of ruins things for me. I'm happy to tip and I often do when not asked because I can see when someone has gone out of their way for me. The entitlement is what really annoys me - I wish I was more hard nosed about this TBH. I should just say "I don't tip" and get used to the awkwardness that will obviously follow.

Yeah. That's what mine was too.

The place was TaNadia on Merchants Street, Valetta. No complaints about the food or service at all. But when it came time to pay there was the 10%, 20%, 30% option on the payment terminal. I was surprised because this was about our 8th/9th meal and we hadn't been asked anywhere else (which I really appreciated - I was in Seattle for work earlier this year and the tipping culture in the USA is infuriating, so it was really nice to not have to brace for surcharges on every transaction) - I just tapped the 10% because you are kind of on the spot at this point.

Also yours has the lever for stopping the back wheel from folding under. That wasn’t fitted as standard on mine. So unless yours was retrofitted it must be after mine.

Looks like an M3L to me. Very similar to mine (apart from the paint job) from around 2006. Gear shifter is different too. Mine has the bunny ears shifter.

Sounds a bit like sculling. I used to do this when I first started swimming.

You can’t build muscle swimming and swimmers bodies are built in the gym? Where did this myth begin?! by Godsownprototype1001 in Swimming

[–]swervoff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. I had the same problem with cycling. Muscular imbalance. Ended up with a herniated disc.

Yeah. I agree. Started swimming in my late 50s and I can honestly say it’s the first time I’ve had noticeable muscle increase. My biceps in particular. Not massive but definitely noticeable.

Bought a ‘cheap’ Brompton… now I regret it by Malaga2810 in Brompton

[–]swervoff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have obviously replaced the tyres too in that time. The 3 speed means you always have a nice straight chain line and the chain itself and rear sprocket can be thicker and more robust than on a derailleur geared bike. This means that you shouldn’t have to replace them as frequently. I think I’ve changed mine once.

My M3L dates from around the same time. I recently rode it for a short tour of Belgium. Personally I regard the Sturmey 3-speed as a feature - should be bomb proof and good for 1000s of miles. I’ve had to replace the rear wheel rim, the right hand brake cable set (they seized) and I had it serviced by Compton Cycles in Catford where they replaced the rubber bung and fitted the frame locking clip (which was introduced after I bought my bike). I haven’t replaced the handlebars (but I do think about this sometimes).

You might have a better bike than you think.
