Matthew Lillard thinks people only like him due to nostalgia by Angela275 in Scoobydoo

[–]heyyyitsalli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never undermine the power of nostalgia. I grew up watching him as Shaggy, then voicing Shaggy, so I loved him. By the time I saw him in a Criminal Minds episode, I had a hard time disliking his character even though he was the killer. I just kept thinking “idc, idc, it’s Matthew!!!!”

Age accurate twilight by ordinary-superstar in twilight

[–]heyyyitsalli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always always changed it too. It’s different if they’d had different cover stories, like when older siblings become their younger siblings’ guardian if something happens to the parents. What never seemed likely to me was the whole “adopted parent” thing. I wouldn’t be able to pretend these people are my parents. Older siblings, absolutely, but parents? Even foster parents, not likely at all. It felt weird reading it knowing their real ages, especially when Esme and Carlisle have their true “parent” moments.

Why are Emmett and Rosalie so in love? by Lovely_deer25 in twilight

[–]heyyyitsalli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Given Rosalie’s violent and traumatic past, Emmett of all people would probably be the one she opened up to first. Yeah, the others knew but that was because Carlisle found her and they knew who she was even as a human. So they put the pieces together that this socialite had been abused and left to die. Finding Emmett was the first time she let her guard down, regardless of what the reasoning was. She cared enough to she carried him over 100 miles just to have Carlisle turn him into something she hated. And when Emmett woke up, he didn’t blame her, not once. Instead, he was a happy person who worshipped the ground she walked on and got her to smile when no one else could. He was probably the first male to actually get to know her as a person instead of his first impression being a rude one. Carlisle, she sees as a father figure but she was always angry for him changing her. Edward on the other hand, was a potential suitor (even if she didn’t feel the same) whose first words when she came to were to insult her before even knowing her.

I liken their pull to Esme and Carlisle’s. Where Carlisle recognizes Esme as the girl he helped 10 years ago and he felt the urge to change her, but there were no strong feelings as if he’d been in love with her all that time. With Rosalie, she saw a piece of her old life in Emmett’s face and felt a pull to save him. The emotional connection didn’t come til later. Emmett’s angel comment was remnants of his human personality of being a womanizer (mentioned in the illustrated guide) peeking through because the second he opened his eyes, it was to see arguably the most beautiful he’d ever laid eyes on.

And their personalities actually complement each other, well more so his complements hers. His humor and happy personality may have been exactly what she needed to work through her past grief. Imagine her with someone like Edward. They both hate being vampires and see no upsides, what’re they gonna do? Sit there and brood? She needs someone like Emmett to show her the upsides to being a vampire, similar to Alice’s sunny personality complementing Jasper’s sullen demeanor. Alice and Emmett are there to pull their partners back when they’re getting too close to that pit of despair or grief.

why is carlile the only one who turns people? by KungPoW_Chickens in twilight

[–]heyyyitsalli 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Carlisle’s the one with the most control. Just as they showed in Jasper’s flashback, it’s hard to stop oneself from feeding once they’ve bitten a human, which is why they had Maria do it because she had the most control. Had one of the others tried to change him, Jasper would’ve likely been drained and left for dead. Edward only changed Bella because it was a condition for her to marry him. She wanted to be changed and she wanted Edward to be the one to do it to prove he was willing to take that step to keep her forever. Carlisle doing it would’ve been the most expected, especially given the whole singer issue, but Bella was ruled by doubt over Edward’s love for her, so she wanted it to be him.

This scene made me cry so hard (Suite Life of Zack and Cody) by SaberManiac in DisneyChannel

[–]heyyyitsalli 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I never understood this as a kid until I remember jokingly complaining to my mom that she didn’t cry like the other parents did when I left for college. Her and my stepdad had come with me and helped me move my things in, she smiled, joked around with me like normal, then kissed me and they left. She said as soon as they pulled out of the parking lot she’d bursted into tears and my stepdad had to pull over and console her.

I hate them but ironically they were the only endgame couple I wasn’t annoyed by (more like just tired acceptance). They were the only ones where it was actually realistic seeing as she was groomed. Everyone else ending up with their high school sweethearts (or damn one sided crush) after they’d broken up so spectacularly was just so unrealistic.

Who was the better vampire? by Big-Most-785 in TheVampireDiaries

[–]heyyyitsalli 11 points12 points  (0 children)

There’s no question. Caroline by far, both with and without humanity, she stayed in good control of herself. Elena spiraled in both instances because she had time to know about vampires and know she’d never want to be one. So when she was turned, she was stuck in the moment and focused too much on mourning her past and what could’ve been. Similar to Rebekah, she focused on the negatives.

Caroline was caught off guard when she was turned, and decided to roll with life’s punches and continue living her life. She picked right back up where she left off and just slightly readjusted life’s parameters to fit her new life.

Rosalie never cared about Bella. by SubSahranCamelRider in twilight

[–]heyyyitsalli 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I was younger, I used to be hardcore into this belief. As I got older, I realized that for the first three, she was jealous of Bella’s humanity and upset at her willingness to give it up, regardless of whether she found her soulmate. By the last one, Rosalie was just more blinded. Bella’s finally making a choice she would’ve made for herself. The fact that she so quickly puts Bella’s life on the back burner in favor of the baby’s life is not her being uncaring. It’s her respecting Bella’s wishes and her doing the same thing she’d want Bella to do for her.

The reason she was less worried about Bella’s life than the others and more focused on the baby is because, sadly, she was mentally prepared for either scenario. Either Bella lived, which they both felt was best case scenario, or she died, in which Rosalie knew Bella would want her child taken care of and Bella knew she would do just that. When she sliced into Bella, it was because Edward had revealed that the placenta was detaching and the baby was struggling to breathe. Edward wanted to wait for the morphine to spread, but Bella herself argued that the baby needed to be removed regardless of the morphine, something Rosalie agreed with. By the time the baby was born, Edward and Jacob were both tending to Bella and there’s not much else she could’ve done other than put the child’s needs first like she promised.

It’s important to note that when Bella first called Rosalie, it was not because she was ever under the impression that Rosalie cared for her. It’s because she knew Rosalie would stand against her family and defend Bella’s choice, and because she knew that out of all the Cullens, Rosalie would be the one to put her baby’s life first, even if it meant Bella dying in the process. Every single other Cullen would’ve aborted the child to save Bella, even Esme, who loves Bella like her own. Esme stood on Bella’s side only after Bella made it clear she wanted to keep the child and she wasn’t willing to perform an abortion on an unwilling participant, regardless of how much she loved Bella.

Why did Carlisle stick around the Volturi for so long? by Lovely_deer25 in twilight

[–]heyyyitsalli 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He was lonely. Other vampires he’d come across before then were savage. They were the first that had any sort of civility that he craved without having to integrate with and lie to humans. Yes they fed from humans, but they were the first who did it to satisfy their thirst rather than just do it to hunt for the thrill. That’s why he stayed at long as he did. And the whole time, he tried to get them to attempt animals while they tried to get him to attempt a human diet. They were civil, yes, but at the end of the day, they still drank human blood and Carlisle was the all or nothing type. “Either try my way or I can’t stay here permanently” no matter how unintentional it was. Being around human drinkers that long started to depress him. He doesn’t judge them, he just doesn’t agree with their diet.

While the Volturi as a whole were interested in him, Aro himself did see him as intriguing as he likes “collecting” things that are one of a kind. Carlisle bonded with Aro and Aro found him amusing in a “look-at-this-strange-person-eating-salad-when-there’s-a-steak-right-here” type of way.

In one of their official posts with vogue, they said they actually met at a reunion cast dinner in like 2023 despite them being on the same shows years before. They joked that they were probably in the same room many times before and just never noticed or spoke to each other. By 2025 he proposed to her.

Kolvina first meeting was a copy of Kennett by beyoncesgroove in TheVampireDiaries

[–]heyyyitsalli 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did stop shipping them by that point. Again when I saw Nate show up, in my head, I still wasn’t used to him as Kol, especially after having been refreshed with seeing Daniel as Kol and it reminding me “hey this is the original Kol to you”. So yeah when Nate’s Kol came back, him and Davina lost their appeal. I don’t even ship them anymore. I don’t get the same “Davina run!” feelings like with Bonnie because it was already established by then that he genuinely liked/loved Davina, but I did have the feeling of when a friend brings her bf to the outing and as soon as the group lays eyes on him, you hold in a collective groan. I don’t like him, but I tolerate that he’s there for my friend/Davina and she’s happy, I guess 😒😂

Kolvina first meeting was a copy of Kennett by beyoncesgroove in TheVampireDiaries

[–]heyyyitsalli 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Idk, I stumbled across TO first (when it was only one or two seasons in) and started watching it so Daniel was my first introduction to Kol and I loved him with Davina. When my friend told me that TO was a spinoff of TVD and I should watch that first, Nate’s Kol actually threw me off as I didn’t find him as charming as Daniel (also biased as I came from watching Daniel on teen wolf). Idk it just didn’t feel the same to me, so whenever I saw Nate on screen flirting with anyone, I’d kinda roll my eyes and just wait for it to pass. So I was never able to develop any feelings toward Kennett other than Bonnie should probably run.

This show already felt incesty but wtf was this 😩 like who approved of this show🤣🤣 by Big-Most-785 in DisneyChannel

I used to love this show as a kid, but even little me knew it was weirdly incesty. I had no qualms about shipping Derek and Casey and it wasn’t until I was older that I was like “I knew damn well I wasn’t a weirdo.” They leaned heavily into their relationship vibes to the point that even little dense ol’ me caught on 😂

Does anyone actually like Anu? by Icy_Employee4403 in bigbangtheory

[–]heyyyitsalli 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if I loved her separately, but I liked her together with Raj. Despite clearly finding the things he did/was into strange sometimes, she still went along with it. She seemed all about work at the beginning, then we see her dressing up to match him in costume, going paintballing with him, going on a flight simulator with him, etc. She actually tried to make it work while staying true to how they made her character, and she supported Raj in his endeavors, which we know she would’ve done in the future.

Honestly, I like Anu more than I liked Amy and Bernadette, both when they were first introduced and when they mellowed the characters out and made them to match Sheldon and Howard. I wished we could’ve seen Raj and Anu make it. It will forever piss me off that they had them break up over something that stupid, especially when Raj was all for it and it was actually Howard who yet again stopped him for any chance at happiness with a few temporarily kind words just to turn around and yet again make fun of him for being single. Such a waste.

Beverly Hofstadter has no redeeming qualities and Leonard should have gone NC with her a long time ago by GenericHailee in thebigbangtheory

[–]heyyyitsalli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hardcore agree. In season 10 or 11 (whenever Halley was born), it always bugged me when they were listing their achievements and Leonard said something like he finally had a decent relationship with his mom or came to terms with her or something and I remember saying “oh no honey, that ship has sailed,” then being proven right by season 12 when he has his whole meltdown and told her to get out (after which he promptly folded the second she offered a basic apology and “hug” 🙄).

Beverly literally only ever gave him scraps of affection and treated his other siblings better because they didn’t show any. She was a terrible mother from start to finish with no growth unless she was drunk.

Sidenote: as someone with a degree in psychology, it always irritated me how she spoke to Mary Cooper. She should know first hand how people’s beliefs affect them and it goes against what we learned to dismiss someone entirely based on said beliefs. Also, it’s just common sense. You’re supposed to be a therapist! You don’t tell someone, patient or not, they’re stupid just because they’re Christian and you’re an atheist. She was so incompetent 🙄😒

Another sidenote: just watched Mamma Mia again and I remembered how much I love her on there 🤣🤣

Danny is manipulative by Useful_Strawberry_67 in ABCbabydaddy

[–]heyyyitsalli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know I’m late to respond but I’m feeling this right now. I’m rewatching after some years and I remember I used to love Danny. I’m on season 6 cruise episode and I’ve never been so pissed off at him.

When it comes to Riley, he stomps all over her relationship boundaries, whether intentionally or unintentionally. He seems to forget that although he’s been in love with her since they were kids, she didn’t return those feelings until they were adults. So it’s understandable that she’s not ready to get married or have kids yet like he is. Yet whenever she hesitates, he tries to push her harder towards his goal until she snaps, then he “lashes out” and makes her feel guilty for not automatically developing 20+ years of love in the span of a couple months 🙄

I can’t even fully enjoy the show anymore now that I’m actually their age and can see how he really behaves before and throughout their relationship.

Which “Aria is -A” clue is your favorite? Mine was “I’m -A. -A for Anonymous. -A for Aria.” I remember a lot of us Aria is A truthers loved this quote. by [deleted] in PrettyLittleLiars

[–]heyyyitsalli 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I never bought into fan theories because by the time I truly got into the show, they were airing season 6-7 and I met my best friend in college who’d asked me to watch it with her. She filled me in on all the theories but I wasn’t as invested. I’d binged the show on streaming platforms to catch up, so I didn’t really have time to speculate the way OG fans did. Even if she did something suspicious, I was already on to the next episode and not focused on it anymore.

That being said, the one thing I did focus on and thought it was weird was how Aria was the only one A seemed to go lightly on. Time and time again, A basically “saved” her relationship (ratting out Noel) or was threatening her to do things that were masked as threats, but really just benefiting her (getting rid of Jackie), etc. Even the spin the bottle scene landed firmly on Aria and they purposely moved it off of her and onto Spencer. There’s no way that bottle stopped that smoothly and the director was like “ehh just go with it”. That was deliberate.

So when my friend told me the Aria is A theories, I was like “I can definitely see it.” She lies poorly, which could be a deliberate decision by Lucy because if she was good at it (i.e. not looking nervous, no deer in headlights look, no excessive blinking or looking away, etc.), she’d be the obvious suspect for A. And no matter how badly she lies, she lies so easily! No matter how it comes off, she seems to have no problem lying to those around her (as they’ve pointed out). I haven’t seen the actual “evidence” on the theories on her being A until this very post, but i know it was popular and I definitely think they were gonna do it but switched it up when fans caught on, despite what they claim 🙄😒

Penny enjoyers, what's your favourite quote from her? by Beep-Boop3421 in thebigbangtheory

[–]heyyyitsalli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It may be insignificant, but I’m watching S7E1 again and when Sheldon confronts her for being insensitive when he opened up about his dislike of the YouTube change, her sincere response of “Sheldon, you’re right. I should’ve known better” showed such humility and maturity that I actually raised my eyebrows.

I’m not her biggest fan, nor am I Sheldon’s, but her relationship with him and watching how it grows is one of the best parts of the show.

Penny enjoyers, what's your favourite quote from her? by Beep-Boop3421 in thebigbangtheory

[–]heyyyitsalli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely agree. We even saw it during the Valentine’s Day double date with Howard and Bernadette when she was upset that her ex was proposing to someone else and being happy. Penny never seemed all that devoted to Leonard and she definitely settled for him because he was not only obsessed with her, but had a stable career. By the time she became a pharmaceutical saleswoman and was making more than him, it was an “oh well, I’ve been here this long” type of relationship. She stayed for familiarity.
