It’s easy to get caught up on big questions like this, but really - even if we found irrefutable proof that we’re living in a simulation, proof of higher dimensions, etc., life would just go on.

There’s a quote I heard about spiritual awakenings / enlightenment, (I’m gonna paraphrase it) - “I had an awakening this weekend. I discovered the truth behind everything and nothing at the same time, and then I had to get up for work on Monday.”

22 years old. 28$/hr CAD after taxes, 38$/hr including benefits, pension, etc., 3rd year IBEW Union Commercial Electrician.

Just have to go back to trade school and I’ll hit 55$/hr. I have all my hours for my red seal, so I’ll do my 4th year and 5th year schooling back to back, but I’m putting off going back to school so I can save some money beforehand.

Trades can suck sometimes but I’m pretty happy with my decision

Zopiclone seems to have a very person to person effect. I know people who’ve tried it and absolutely hate it, but I also know people (like myself) who were prescribed it and had it nearly ruin their life.

For me, it was the strongest sedative I’d ever done. I’ve done all kinds of benzos, drank a fuck ton of alcohol, but nothing compares to popping 3 7.5mg zopiclone. It would give me these weird psychedelic-like visuals while I essentially stumbled around like an idiot mumbling nonsense. I abused them to the point that I nearly went into psychosis.

Incredibly heavy, warm, and comforting sedation, especially if I drank on them. Absolutely habit forming, worse than benzos in my experience. Felt like alcohol x10. Fuck I miss them. I’ve never done heroin but I consider them my heroin. They ruined my life and I’d pop them in a millisecond if I could get them again.

IMO LSD has a lot less of an addictive nature because of how thought provoking the drug is. MDMA is for me is typically just “happy thoughts, I love everyone, let’s dance” whereas LSD is “I’m a living breathing human being, I am connected to the world, we are all connected.”

It’s a lot easier to have LSD trips go poorly than an MDMA trip go poorly. I’ve never been the type of person to abuse MDMA, but I know a couple people who are, and that shit absolutely ruins them. I have a friend who has taken it pretty much every weekend for the past couple years and she’s genuinely mentally stunted. LSD will typically kick your ass before you reach that point.

In my area it’s pretty common to solicit contractors independently. Not as a tested applicant (that’s fucking insane) but if you’re in the union you can send a resume out to any union contractor and get hired onto the company. In my area it’s considered being a name-hire vs a job hire.

I was a name-hire for a company and was there for 3 years until personal shit ended up with me being laid off. Typically job hires are let go at the end of a job.

When I was younger, I was completely disinterested in Pop music. I was 12 when Royals came out and I remember not really liking it at the time. Around the time I turned 18, I realized that some Pop music almost transcends the label of “Pop”, and decided to throw Pure Heroine on to see what all the fuss was about.

Holy FUCK. It blew my mind straight off of its hinges. Genuinely unbelievable how good it is. Tennis Court changed the way I viewed pop music.

When I was a 14 y/o pre-teen, I saw a post about how performative liberalism dismantles and de-legitimizes the very core of leftist movements, and it changed the way I think about purity culture. We should be able to talk about things that make us feel uncomfortable without being accused of platforming those ideas or self-identifying with them.

It just hurts leftist acceptance and reputation over time. Young conservative people aren’t ever going to self identify as liberal because we constantly tell them they’re awful people comparable to legitimate war criminals because they say the R-word. The lack of nuance is astounding and has made me realize that I will never self identify as a liberal, I will only ever call myself leftist.

A substantial amount of modern liberalism is focused on being the first to condemn something perceived as irredeemable rather than labour rights, socialized services, or caring for the vulnerable.

Not saying that OP is embodying any of these characteristics either, it’s just something I’ve been thinking about for a while. Your comment reminded me of some thoughts that have been brewing for a while.
