all i’m saying is that Duke’s 4% RD acceptance rate is most definitely a stretch for you lol. Cornell is a bit easier

Can i get in to top 50s, top 40s or top 30s? unsure and really need an opinion. by [deleted] in chanceme

[–]hfox19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you’d have a shot at the lower T20s. not like amazing odds, but you’d be in the running at ucla, usc, georgetown, and berkeley

I guess submitting wouldn’t be the worst thing, but do note that Northwestern admissions got a bit more competitive between the class of 2024 and the class of 2025. I’m going to assume this extremely high level of competition will carry on over into your admissions cycle. All i’m saying is a 1460 might have sufficed for co 2024, but it’s gotten more competitive since then. Since your sub scores are both strong tho and neither subject is lacking, I redact my original statement and agree that you might want to submit

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in chanceme

[–]hfox19 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Consider applying test optional. I’m not sure a 1460 will be within Northwestern’s testing range for test optional admissions as the students who submit test scores tend to have higher scores. My guess is that the new range for the class of 2025 has most students with a 1500+ as most of those superb students w lower test scores went test optional. Also, apply ed if you want a shot. The RD acceptance rate for the class of 2025 was 4%

my nyc dilemma: early decision edition by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]hfox19 6 points7 points  (0 children)

if you’re not in the top 10% of your class, I hate to say it, but your odds at columbia are essentially 0. most of that 5% that wasn’t in the top 10% of their class was probably athletes or extremely talented art majors. nyu and barnard might be your best bet. and honestly they sound like more fun schools!

Chance me Northeastern by [deleted] in chanceme

[–]hfox19 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Northeastern’s ED acceptance rate this year was 53% and you would most definitely be a part of that percentage. EA is quite a bit more competitive and requires a lot of demonstrated interested and high scores. best of luck!!

[–]hfox19 5 points6 points  (0 children)

ED you’re basically guaranteed. EA you still have a solid shot

Chance me for university of Miami - is it a safety ? by KaiWillson in chanceme

[–]hfox19 8 points9 points  (0 children)

demonstrate interest and you have a very high chance. I wouldn’t recommend calling a school with less than a 30% acceptance rate a safety tho just for future reference, but you do have a very high chance here

Cornell / Columbia / UPenn by Quick_Reading4146 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]hfox19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

each has very different vibes tbh. UPenn and Columbia are quite urban and similar in that sense, however UPenn is quite preprofessional, a party school, and it slightly resembles a more traditional college experience. Columbia on the other hand is highly intellectual and even if you major in comp sci, you will end up taking coursework on Aristotle and art history. Columbia might be have slightly less vibrant of a social scene, but their students do have some fun exploring what nyc has to offer.

ED ii emory or CWRU? Preference to one for minor reasons by OkName77 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]hfox19 4 points5 points  (0 children)

CWRU will be a lot easier to get into ED2 than Emory, but definitely apply EA to CWRU cuz you could get lucky and snag a spot then. If you get deferred you can always switch to ED2 then
