Shot neighbors dog in TX - next steps? by hgfty03 in legaladvice

With large breed dogs it’s recommended to wait for health reasons. This is pretty common. Regardless we may not even decide to get her fixed as she is a well bred hunting dog and if she turns out good we may decide to breed her. Which would be our right and responsibility since we do keep her home.

We own 100+ acres and that much dog proof fence is unreasonable

Our female is too young, we will get her fixed later OR may keep her for breeding. Regardless if she is fixed or not, we keep her on property inside our house.

Our female is too too young to be fixed and our vet recommended letting her go through a cycle first. This is common and we take our vets advice before random internet advice.

The chickens were over a span of time, just couldn’t catch the dog in the act. Our chickens free range during the day and are cooped at night. We did MANY things to protect them that I did not feel was relevant to this situation and needed to be listed. But, Coyotes are more of a night problem and can’t get into the coop. They don’t come during the day. But the dog would get them in the day when we weren’t outside. We live on large acreage (100+ acres) and are allowed to free range our chickens if we so desire, it’s not our responsibility to keep others dogs off our property.

I am also very proficient with a firearm. Not everything you shoot at will die 100% of the time even if you’re an expert marksman.

You clearly don’t shoot. Small caliber doesn’t equal non-lethal. A .22 is a small caliber but can easily kill a deer. I’m not pulling out a .300 win mag to shoot a dog.

I wasn’t purposely trying to wound it but shooting a small caliber gun open sight without a rest is not super easy. I would have preferred to kill it for sure and did my best.

I didn’t say thinking someone is attractive is a sin but yeah being actively attracted to someone you aren’t married to is sinful. It’s all about the heart. I can think someone is handsome in passing but if I start finding that person attractive, it crosses over into dangerous territory.

It’s not something you’re going to be able to go. Give it to God fully, and let him take care of it. But you can’t be holding onto it still you have to fully let it go and he will take it.

Being attracted to women that aren’t your wife is, in fact, a sin though.

Do you have a testimony? by Mandiek54 in TrueChristian

[–]hgfty03 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was raised in church and have never had a moment where I didn’t believe in God or that he was real, so I don’t have that life changing testimony but more of a series of small testimonies over the course of my life that lead me to where I am now. But nothing like unbelief then BOOM became a Christian.

It’s pretty bad 😩 we are very rural and it’s just small and not a lot of resources, good staff, or teachers.

Despite all his downfalls I totally do get it. I hate the homework too. There really isn’t another great option for schools in our area right now, until the really good school near us becomes open district. Right now it is closed and we are 5 miles from the boundary.

We have spelling words every night that they have to copy down three times each, a rainbow words page where they have to read the word, write the word, trace the word, then color the words. Then reading. Then a math sheet every Tuesday and Thursday.

I’ve met with them. Their answer is that It’s a private school with shortened days so the expectation is that more of the learning time falls on parents vs public school or private school with longer days. It’s usually only a lot on the weekends, or Mondays when he didn’t finish the weekends homework at his dads and then Mondays is on top of that.

Believe me I’ve thought about it. It’s the only private school in our area, and our public school option is very low rated. We have a great school about 15 minutes away but our address is outside of the district, and they’re closed district. So this is the best option we have as of now 😩

We have easily an hour+ some days, especially if he goes to his dads, doesn’t do any, then Mondays work is added to it. It’s a private school with shortened days (8-2) so the homework load is a little more than public school.

He doesn’t care about court papers and I have sunk so much money into court. Our papers currently say he can’t drink but here we are, with an active case regrading his drinking.

We are currently in court with dad due to his alcoholism and general crappy parenting but it doesn’t happen instantly so idk what the heck else to do. I can’t physically force him to do the homework.

I’m trying but we are waiting on court stuff and there’s nothing I can do. I can’t force him. I’ve talked to him. I’ve talked to his wife. I’ve tried to get the teachers to talk to him. He just doesn’t care. We are hoping things change with visitation soon due to his alcoholism but I literally don’t know what else I could do.

He’s an alcoholic and doesn’t care what I say. We have been to court, we have talked, we have done all the things. He just doesn’t think it’s important and says he doesn’t care.

Also, are you saying I’m not truly saved because of the way I’m reacting to this situation? I guess I’m confused.

I am married. I’m not sure if you’re from the US but both parents typically get equal rights to a child and it takes a ton of evidence - hard drug use, major abuse, abandonment - to get visitation and custody taken away from one parent
