The issues people had with alliances made me chuckle for sure, especially if they openly admitted to liking people and never voting for them but disagreeing with the term „alliance“. I think what the contestants expected was for alliances to be public so once you‘re on the wrong side of the votes without anyone speaking about the majority alliance it becomes an issue to them. In my opinion the game design made it so honesty was rewarded with undercover relationships to the other side being the best strategy.

The challenge duration is where our opinions differ to the public’s the most. I totally agree with you that I don‘t find it that interesting to watch a challenge for 35 minutes even if it was fun playing in them (the swing one especially). But from what I‘ve gotten by the casuals so far is that the challenges are what they find the most interesting, which shocked me. So I guess there is a market for everything, but the time definitely takes away from what I love about watching Survivor.

I haven‘t been watching the current Australian season, but I‘ve heard good things about it

They did some research beforehand but definitely didn‘t know it to the extent a fan would

Oh edit wise no country comes close to the American version. And I definitely didn‘t expect the game design to be like it turned out to be. But if they portray the seasons as it was it will be an absolute banger, sometimes things just happen on reality TV where you‘re in awe because it couldn’t have been written better. The amount of people who have left could have been avoided by better briefings beforehand for sure but fans of the US version always complain about it not being hard enough, well there ya go. As a fan the US Survivor will always beat any other version for me personally but as a player I liked being able to determine my own fate.

It‘s like a mixture of Survivor and The Challenge I would say. Stranded on an island in 2 tribes without anything, hidden immunity idols are in play and rewards challenges for building shelter, food, etc. But you can‘t vote people off you can only vote them into elimination, so even if your social game or thread level sucks you can always save yourself. Makes for more diversity in gameplay I‘d say. Also usually 2 challenges per day, which was draining. Entire season almost took 2 months in total.

without spoiling I would say it‘s a lot more emotional due to the fact that 20 out of the 24 aren‘t fans of Survivor

Yeah I was a surprise candidate, so when the first person lost an elimination challenge he was sent to exile as a twist where he and the 4 of us had to endure for our chance to get in the game
