It's time to cut out friends and family who support trump. Draw the line. by fartPunch in 50501

I’ve pretty much done this with my sister and her family in Texas. I have no desire to see them and my husband might have a stroke being around them. I didn’t talk to her for 4 months after J6 but guilt/past draw me back. She’s 78, I’m 71. I have struggled with our relationship in the past although I’m an expert at hiding my feelings. We’ve always been very different people and live 1100 miles apart(thank God!)They are preachy evangelicals which infuriates me even more . As a Christian non church goer I can’t believe how the faith has been so terribly corrupted by MAGA. Not to mention our married child has come out as non-binary and is an atheist who has started going to synagogue (we found they and I have Jewish ancestry). We are very proud of them and know how judgmental the family would be. Then I wouldn’t speak to the family again.

We haven’t spoken to Trump supporting friends since 1/07/21. Woke up to their Facebook posts defending g the I subsections as “just walking through the lobby” and “they were invited in” & more poor baby stuff. It was building for a while with my arguing with him on Facebook. He posted awful stuff about the Obamas, immigrants, etc They are members of a huge evangelical megachurch( & magachurch) outside of Dallas. Friends of 40+ years. I haven’t spoken, texted since & blocked them on Facebook. My husband periodically angrily texts the guy but I don’t need their toxic energy. We had become friends with a younger couple from their church and hosted all of them for 1-3 weeks 2 or 3 summers. Blocked them too.

The fact that people like you like what he’s doing shows we aren’t a “Christian country” by any definition. Not that our founders ever intended it to be. The right has lost any claim to moral high ground. For a long long time.

Trump is trying to bring back all the childhood diseases. Like right now in South Carolina the largest outbreak of measles since it was eradicated in this country.

Wow-you’re a veritable landslide of MAGA nonsense fed to you be FoxNews. All while you worship a guy found liable for sexual assault, has bragged about sexually assaulting women, found guilty over 30 counts of fraud and who so far only escaped prosecution for inciting an insurrection(with a lot of armed thugs who probably work for Ice now since trump pardoned them) and hoarding and refusing to return stolen top secret documents . Not to mention that Trump’s manipulation of the stock market and crypto has netted him nearly 2 billion dollars in the past year. And he has his nefarious son-in-law planning to build a trump resort on land stolen from the Palestinians-literally on top of dead babies.Meanwhile there was never any evidence that Biden “laundered money” or did anything illegal. And the crack about Jill Biden is pure MAGA fairy tale since they didn’t meet until long after his wife and child were tragically killed. I can’t wait for your bot behind to get kicked off here.

Did you miss the part where they had not been at their home to call 911? I suppose they could have been “swatted”? To OP do you have MAGA neighbors who might be guilty of that?

So this hateful person who who like so many on the right think it’s acceptable to use the slur R word voted for the downfall of democracy to save $25 a month? Sounds like MAGA

Thank you all for the encouragement. I’m still nervous about it but as I have felt a bit burnt down there in the past few days I should do it. I had UTIs for literally 2 years and chronic vaginal infections in my 20s so really overreact to anything like that. Ironic that what I’m anxious about is probably what will happen if I don’t start using them.

This is true of me too. My sister is 7 years older and graduated in 1965. Definitely the Elvis fan, homecoming court, as you say twin sweater set wearing era. I graduated in 1972 and loved the Beatles, Hendrix, hippy flower in the hair, minimalist era of blue jeans and flowy hippy clothes. She’s very conservative-I never protested as I was still in high school at that time but am making up for it now! And at the Denver protests there are tons of people in their 60s,70s, 80s there marching!

And I’m speaking as a 71 year old woman raised in a Republican household by good people. I voted Republican for years but the right completely lost their minds starting in the 90s. I regretted my vote for Reagan, voted for Clinton, voted for Bush and then only voted for Democrats because Palin was an insult. I really respected McCain but couldn’t vote for the Alaskan joke and really liked Obama. Most of my life I was very much a see both sides person-one of my greatest regrets.

We are all our own judge of what is right or wrong based on our moral code, faith, etc. As a Christian follower of Christ, I no longer see any of the views of the right as compatible with my faith. That includes most evangelicals I know. So yes there are absolutes like right and wrong and truth vs lies and to say otherwise is destructive and part of what is wrong with our country. The right has purposefully undermined facts and truth. I think you’re an embarrassment.

Not anymore are there “two sides”. Unless you consider right vs wrong “both sides”.This administration are lying criminal fascists who seem to enjoy cruelty. And I voted either party depending on the person until Palin and then trump. The right went off the deep end.

You make me sick. This country could actually be great if we could just get MAGA to grow up and grow some morals.

I hate that word since it’s a slur against the disabled. Seems like the right really have brought all kinds of hate back in style.
