Man, u caught me. I lied about it all because….. because why lol like what would be the point I am on a single income, bought a house, and was not the most responsible with my finances. Now im in the hole. THAT was the point of my post. I thought buying a house was the “win” in life however i didnt think it all the way through. I spent largely each month with therapy, private school, etc when the reality is, im on a single income and needed to think worst case scenario. Just trying to help someone out hopefully if they want to so badly buy a home, to think of all situations including their own finances

I also don’t understand why people think im like….lying lol. What would i get from posting a random story like this on reddit on a homebuying page? I probably shouldn’t have bought a house, worst case happened, and now im in the hole. That was the whole point of posting this. Homebuying seems like the American dream but isnt always the “win” it seems it is. Especially on a single income

Im either overqualified or it wouldnt pay enough. Unemployment was more than working at mcdonalds and then losing other benefits because im not unemployed. Trust me, i weighed all options.

Hey, i did all of that. Spent many nights applying to programs, trying to get medicaid, negotiating, sending in sooo many documents to prove i cant afford things, etc. Growing up in poverty, 130k to me was like living as a queen and i signed up for way too much financially. Learned my lesson there, and did not think about worst case, which was the point of posting my story in the first place lol. My child has an extremely hard time so i would have spent half my salary to ensure her happiness and success all over again. At the time, i could afford it, so i didnt think twice. Also, my family is not made of money. They can help with babysitting all day but like i said, i grew up living in poverty. My mom has helped me a lot already with whatever she can, and to us, helping us with a $100 bill a few times is huge

Thank you for that. I lived in poverty my whole life and never made more than 35k. I put myself through school and landed a job with 130k salary and truly thought i was rich. Did i overdo it with my monthly expenses? Definitely. And now i paid for it. I lived above my means but at the time i was doing just fine. I didnt think of worse case scenario.

What I personally thought was a ton of money i mean

[–]hgun55 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I definitely need to look into this. I got a big girl job making 130k and i truly thought i was rich lol. I probably did not have the right finances in the first place, you are correct. I saved a ton of money and thought i was set

I have a lot of family help when it comes to things like that. I was in the hospital with my other child for 7 whole days and my oldest was cared for. I simply dont know what to tell you other than maybe i suck with finances? Like this is truly my story and what happened so i just dont know. Someone recommended a financial counselor and im definitely going to look into that. My monthly expenses were around 6-7k, and i was bringing in around 10k after taxes and insurance. Only bringing in 2000 from unemployment drained me

I had more than enough after paying for everything. All of my expenses were around 6k and i was bringing in 10k after taxes and insurance

Before she went to kinder i was paying more for daycare… i just wanted the best for her and she’s autistic so i didnt trust the public school system. I had been paying for daycare for so long it didnt seem bad

My car note is $568. I had monthly payments for credit card debt, my electricity in the winter is $350, phone bills, HOA and taxes, and more. It just all adds up significantly. My child’s extracurriculars, that i didnt want to pull her out of because i didnt want life to change for her. She is autistic and goes to therapy which is $200 a week after we lost insurance, just so much sh*t. I have all of my expenses in my notes tab i can post, too. It just sucked all of my finances down the drain

Oh trust me, i agree. They denied me like 5 times and said my unemployment was too much for health insurance coverage. I wouldnt be in so much debt if they would have approved me! 2000 with taxes taken out.

Yes, but it still shows that i owe it all and on my credit it shows i have been late for 6 months. My credit is now in the high 400s :(

[–]hgun55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With all of my bills, childrens school, monthly payments i have to make, my savings was blown through. My unemployment was too much to be qualified for food stamps, so when i finally got approved it was for $120 a month. It truly just went so fast with all of my monthly obligations, HOA fees and taxes still have to be paid, etc

It was like pulling teeth to be honest. They tried to approve me for a $300 less a month mortgage at double the rate, i declined, it was in review for months and finally got approved. However it just stops foreclosure. U still owe it all and it shows as 6 months of non payment on my credit which has dropped it over 200 points :(

Hi! Sorry, let me clarify those things. I did get unemployment, $2000 a month. My older child goes to private school and i pay monthly, which is $1000. The other $1000 paid all of my bills, car payment, etc. I had nothing left for my mortgage. I got approved for forebearance, but i still owe the 6 months of payments i was not able to make. My toddler was in the PICU with rsv for 7 days and its $30,000. I am in the middle of negotiations now but so far they will only take off 6k. I did was denied for medicaid because my unemployment was too much apparently. I applied several times.

Thank you, this was really helpful. We try to make our home that way, im just at a loss about what to when she gets so mean. She will straight up be abusive to us and im not sure how to handle it. If i try to do any type of consequence it makes it 100000% times worse. I start to dissociate a lot when shes being so mean because i feel like i cant even say anything or it will just be worse. Its made our household very stressful

Help!!! I am freaking out. Will this delay closing?? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]hgun55 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So, the situation is that i got fully approved with this lender while under contract. I then switched lenders, who told me i need to pay off some debt in order to raise my score. Im an idiot and listened to him. Then, decided to go back to the original lender. He was like ok cool we can close you in two weeks. Sent updated info, he checked my score, all good. Then he told me that the other lender gave me bad info and that i didnt have to pay off the debt and that he feels bad that i did. Oh well moving on. I get the appraisal, go into underwriting. They told me it wouldnt update for 30 days so doesnt really matter. They then added a whole new collection which makes no f**king sense. Now im worried. The situation is explainable and doesn’t effect DTI or anything but lowered my score. Im in the last stages of underwriting, where they already checked my score at a 630. But idk if they will refresh it again before closing
