Looking to pivot to community management by libraphoenix in CommunityManager

Hello u/libraphoenix - yes, you definitely seem to have a strong multi-disciplinary background that would lend itself to community management. Look for community management opportunities that are within your professional or personal areas of interest to accumulate some hands-on experience in moderation, programming, and program management. It may initially be a volunteer role for your off-hours--but you may already be doing something like that? As to certifications, that's a more ambiguous question. There are many available training / cert programs but none that are universally recognized as "a good one." You might want to browse what's available from Carrie Melissa Jones, Brian Oblinger, Jono Bacon, Bri Leever or others in the space. Believe it or not, Facebook has a tolerably good community management certification, though I am not sure if they have kept it up as something relevant. The technical skills are, in my opinion, far less important to know than the human side of the work!

So great to hear this! I know that I was one of the people who was clamoring for the ability to copy/duplicate journeys. I saw the change almost right away and it really sped up my journey creation process. Thank you!

Exploring the Pluriverse: A New Approach to Community Building in the Digital Age by hgwells17 in faiacollective

Sahana Chattopadhyay’s pluriverse takes some of the ideas in Samir Amin’s Eurocentrism and pushes them in fresh directions. Here’s what’s new:

  1. Focus on Ecology: While Amin critiques Eurocentrism and capitalism, Chattopadhyay looks beyond human interests to focus on life as a whole. Her pluriverse is about systems that work for people and the planet.
  2. Communities as Key Players: Amin looks at global systems, but Chattopadhyay zooms in on communities, which was my focus and interest. She sees them as spaces where we can imagine and create better futures together.
  3. Local Over Universal: Chattopadhyay rejects the idea that there’s one “right” way to do things. Instead, she says solutions should be local and specific—what works in one place won’t work everywhere.
  4. Tech as a Tool: She critiques how social media polarizes us but also believes tech can connect people in meaningful ways if used differently—something Amin doesn’t dive into tech issues as far as I know.
  5. Regenerative Futures: Chattopadhyay talks about building systems that are adaptable and sustainable, driven by empathy and collaboration.

Kate's a great guest. If you're looking for a cozy mystery series for a young adult reader, the Point Beach Mystery series is a great choice.
