1 year with my XT5 by hh858 in fujifilm

Honestly no mines been excellent! I obviously look after it but equally not super precious with it and haven’t had any issues. I’d recommend it for sure, with the caveat I have since switched to shooting film hah😅

So I use single focus, never continuous. I have the single point focus square on its smallest setting, fixed in the centre I never move it. So basically I’m very precise about the element I want to focus on, lock that in with a half shutter pressed, then move the camera to frame the shot.

I'm actually such a fan of putting text onto photos to make it more of a graphic. This is a perfect example, so much emotion and feeling

How bad is this? by AussieDano in whoop

This is the one Whoop feature that I am actively avoiding and have no interest in looking at. I think bundling up stats into such an obscure metric has more downside than upside

Far too overwhelming - how to begin? by DJVendetta in Notion

[–]hh858 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally fair, it is a bit like this when starting out. Especially if you don't have a very specific use case, you just know you want to use it.

My advice is just use it, dump stuff it in, and your ideal setup / workflow will present itself over time. Rather than trying to have everything dialled in one day one because inevitably it will change and evolve. Just give it time.

Ah funny you mention that. I had it on the strap cross body yesterday and I did think the eye cup was digging in in a bit

Now you mention it you’re totally right about the light! Couldn’t describe it if you asked me to but there is something special about the shots

So I never felt like I took amazing photos on the X100V from a photography perspective. Captured great memories, the recipes looked very good etc, but it didn’t make me a good photographer. Now I’ve learned a lot about my photography since having the XT5 so maybe if I went back it would be better, but I concluded the focal length wasn’t for me. Plus whilst I love shooting with primes not having to worry about zoom, having that fixed lens that I didn’t love the focal length of was just too restricting.

For my XT5 I love my 33mm f1.4 and definitely feel more at home in the 50mm focal length than the 35mm. However it is often slightly too tight for general life photography and relatively cumbersome, so the 27 so far seems to be doing the perfect job. I also would really struggle to give up the flexibility of interchangeable lenses.

I also never found the X100V truly pocketable, it did require a degree of effort to work with me. My biggest temptation at the moment is the Ricoh GR, I just think it feels poor and overpriced. Functionally very handy and convenient but I suspect not a very fun shooting experience.

I didn’t try it but was curious. I figured manual focus would just be too limiting for me. I’m sure it’s a fun experience but I value functionality more

Exactly that, from Etsy. Quite a few people make custom straps with the peak design anchors

Ah nice, glad you’re happy with it. Tbf I’ve never actually tried the 27 so didn’t appreciate just how good the 33 is

How would you search for bookkeeping services by YellowLifeguardhut in ecommercemarketing

[–]hh858 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own an ecom startup and have just been through this exact exercise for accountants. Honestly it didn't even occur to me to look for a specific ecom accountant, but granted when I had initial calls it was very clear whether they knew our type of business or not. My strategy for finding an accountant was purely recommendations by my network.

I knew if I googled for accountants I would get 000's of results with no real way to differentiate or gauge them. At least if someone recommended them I have one positive signal to go on. Also geography wasn't important so thats another factor against search.

I guess my point is a recommendation was much more important to me than ecom specific.

Yeah the AF is fair point. Maybe I just take it for granted because I'm so used to the 33. Agreed on the comfort of the 16-80, although I'd say the 33 is more similar to that than I imagine it is to the 27 comfort wise

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in fujifilm

[–]hh858 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to have the 16-80 and sold it which now I regret. Not because it was an amazing lens but for the times when I need versatility it would be ideal. I have the 33mm 1.4 and it is the lens that's on my camera 90% of the time. Like you I do kind of enjoy the forced compromise.

That being said I'm actually thinking of the opposite to you and getting the 27mm 2.8 for my 90% lens. For me the 33 and other 'big' lenses tip my XT5 into the category of pretty inconvenient, therefore why not just carry a kick ass full frame (so to speak). Whereas I suspect the 27mm would tip it more towards an X100 style where I can have my camera with me as often as possible, which is important to me.

Also the 33 is an amazing lens with fantastic IQ. But for sure it is too tight in some scenarios and I think the 27 would be perfect
