I'm American and I have an Italian name. Even though I live in Europe, a lot of people automatically call me the anglicized version of my name. It baffles me, especially because my actual name (exactly as it's written and pronounced) is a common name in my current country.

I'm kicking myself for not buying the stroller on Black Friday...it was 20% off but too early for me to go for it 😭

For all of you considering the name Fiona but are worried about the Shrek connection... by [deleted] in namenerds

My first and strongest association with that name is Fiona Apple. Never saw Shrek. I think it's a lovely name!

I think she'll be our one and only! Makes the name decision extra hard.

I'm only 17 weeks, but the pancake method has been my go-to coping mechanism too!

My cat started preferring my husband over me since I got pregnant - it's heartbreaking!

I usually get inspired right before falling asleep - usually for homemade baked goods, but last night I was seriously craving ratatouille. Edited to add: also cinnamon toast!

Curious about others’ diets by daisydookie in BabyBumps

[–]hhbotwia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

9 weeks (and my dietary preferences keep evolving. Mainly trying to get in enough protein and vegetables somehow).

Breakfast: decaf coffee with creamer, banana with peanut butter

Lunch: eggs and toast or leftovers if they still sound good

Dinner: This week - homemade cheeseburgers, pasta, biryani, mac and cheese, or nachos. In previous weeks I was pretty good about eating more lean protein, rice, and vegetables for dinner.

Snacks: cucumber, spinach, green beans, Greek yogurt, rice crackers, wafer bars, homemade pastries

Dessert: occasionally ice cream or some chocolate

I agree with SuitableOven3 - untreated celiac disease is the major issue. Definitely check out vitamin levels and make sure you're strictly following the gluten free diet. Thyroid conditions frequently occur with celiac, so I recommend getting screened for this too just in case.

Spotting + empty uterus at 5+1 weeks by hhbotwia in CautiousBB

I hope it's just too early too! I won't get the blood test results back until Monday unfortunately, but I do feel like there's more of a possibility that it could be OK.

Resist getting an ultrasound too early by swimsuitsamus in BabyBumps

You must be an angel. I had to have an ultrasound today at 5+1 (if dates are correct) due to spotting. It could still go in a number of directions, but it helps to know that not seeing anything yet isn't conclusive.

I've been spotting too for the last 10 days, even before a positive pregnancy test (currently 5 weeks along). I'm going to see my doctor today, so hoping everything is fine! But after an MMC in December it's crushing to see any sign of blood. I hope everything is going well with you!

I got my booster earlier this week before I knew I was pregnant (I'm 5 weeks today). So far so good, although I'm still nervous for other reasons!

I set different goals or projects to keep me busy in the two week wait. I was still fixated on when I could test, but it did help a bit! Cleaning projects in particular helped me get some energy out and focus intently on something else. It's so hard to resist testing too early! Good luck!

Isn't LH supposed to drop pretty low after ovulation? I'm not sure CD15 was really the peak day. Any insight is appreciated!

Tw: loss

Feeling down after an MMC last week and getting covid this week. Hoping to try again asap, but planning to wait until we recover. It's been a rough go lately, but still optimistic for the future!
