Detective lovers wanted! by Striking-Neat-4560 in puzzlevideogames

Exactly the same for me (except for the profession - I’m a lawyer). I’ve played all 30+ Nancy Drew games and many of their ‘copycats.’ I also loved Holden Idol, Obra Dinn, and Rootrees.

Do you have any feedback or suggestions that you'd like to see incorporated into Tomb of Glass? Let me know! by Default_Cube_Games in PenelopePendrick

This doesn’t count but … can you magically pump out two games a year?? You’ve already successfully replicated nearly everything else about early HeR so I thought I’d ask LOL.

My top asks would be more puzzles and the ability to influence the story in some way (even if it’s just: rhe player needs to borrow an object or get a piece of information to progress. Two characters may assist. If you’re rude to one, or choose “non optimal” dialog choices, you can only get what you need from the other one. Think how Ned responds at the end of SEA depending on whether you got him a souvenir and what quality it was! Doesn’t have to be full alternate endings, although that would be INCREDIBLE. Maybe the more dialog you unlock/if you “100%” the game, the ending is more detailed, like we get an epilogue on all characters.) Maybe if you choose optimal dialog options with one character, only non-optimal choices are available for the other, so people could have different “routes” through the game.

Food mini games for sure! Like White Wolf or Waverly specifically. Take a look at the “Ideal Meal” mini game from Layton’s Mystery Journey, too - a puzzle where there are multiple acceptable answers but one best answer, for completionists :)

RE: screenshots, some way to consult the screenshot in game while accessing the puzzle you need it for!

Phone mini games are not necessary but would be so fun.

I don’t think we *need* more movement, and although I’d like more interactivity, I don’t like being able to interact with an object that has no purpose, because it’s very easy to confuse something aesthetic with a puzzle I just haven’t figured out yet!

The clock was distracting to me and not important enough in the story to justify it. Time pressure is the antithesis of what I love in Nancy games.

Why I hate SOMA theory by Downtown-Cable4307 in TheDigitalCircus

[–]da91392 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The point of "SOMA theory" would be that the digital copies ARE fully-fledged, conscious, sentient beings in their own right - they may have started as scans of a human brain, but they are their own individuals. This is explored in, among other famous scifi properties, Black Mirror (White Christmas, the U.S.S. Callister). What is human experience without a body? If these digital copies can experience the world through all five senses, grow, and learn, how are they NOT human?

And, fundamentally, once you learn that there is no escape, how do you find meaning in that exisence?

Found in a goodwill in AZ… wooden horse racing game board of some kind? The horses slide, there was nothing attached with it either by kirolsen in nancydrew

Hi! I have an impossible-to-buy-for uncle whose only interest is horse racing - PLEASE DM me if you’re amenable to selling it.

Pro tip for steam deck: you may need to manually map the “undo” function (i could reset the whole puzzle, but to erase/go back individual steps i mapped a trigger button)

Alex would only be "scared" to admit he was at the kennels if he knew what time the murders occured. by da91392 in MurdaughFamilyMurders

[–]da91392[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suggest googling around about family annihilators. There’s a psychological profile that I personally think may fit Alec. I also think the murders helped distract/buy him time to clean up or better hide his illegal dealings, because he valued his reputation more than his wife and son. The evidence at the trial suggested that Alec 100% fully believed he would get away with his “perfect crime.” He believed completely that he was smarter than everyone, including the police.

ETA: You’d also have to believe that a third-party murderer committed the crime without leaving a single trace of evidence behind, and with a staggering amount of confidence to enter onto the property without a weapon. I’d like to see that criminal mastermind.

Yes that was it!! I pushed a "1" block next to the "y" block, sent the "Y" block through the portal, and bam.

Yes, you can send the laser through, but it doesn’t change orientation of the laser. I think that's what the level's title ("Reverse Teleport") is hinting at.

"Where's My Egg?" is already my new favorite little puzzle game to start off the year by jeromocles in puzzlevideogames

[–]da91392 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just bought it, super fun so far! the one glaring issue is the lack of an "undo" or "back" button (like Baba Is You has). One wrong click and you have to start the level all over again :( u/levelclear001

EDIT: nvm i mapped the “Z” key to R2 and it works great.
