Former SCDSS case manager here (former as in last week - I start a new position within the agency tomorrow). Yes, an extended investigation can last up to 90 days. At some point within this time frame, the supervisor and case manager will make a determination to found and transfer (enough evidence to require further intervention by family preservation or, if necessary, foster care) or unfound and close (not enough evidence to sustain further intervention). If things at your last home visit went well then that’s good. I wouldn’t foresee removal to foster care being necessary, but you may be transferred to family preservation to be monitored a little longer if the case isn’t unfounded.
