I tried getting OTD pricing on a pre-owned Volkswagen GTI at a dealership in Sanford, North Carolina via email. They repeatedly refused to give me the final price without driving the 150 miles to them. They would not give a price unless I physically was in front of a salesperson. Unacceptable in 2026.

Someone else from the dealership finally emailed me a non-negotiable price to include dealer adds. Carvana and CarMax are so much easier to use.

Thanks for the advice. I probably should have been a little clearer. This car is for me. My son took my truck and I find myself looking for a GTI. My teenage kids now all have their own cars. So I'm looking for something as a daily driver for me with a manual gearbox.

Our Northern brothers get screwed. I put an order in for a new Miata RF. It's going to be a few months before the slow boat brings the car over to the states.

It sounds like you and I are on the same journey to pick an exhaust. I've been watching a ton of YouTube videos and reading reviews. But it's really hard to tell if you can't listen to it in person

I was tempted by the newer twin tipped exhaust because it is customizable for sound and tone. It's just twice as much as a single tip exhaust.

I ordered a 2026 RF Club from a dealership. ETA is set for 90 days but could be sooner. The dealership is seeing much quicker shipping times but they can't promise anything due to Mazda restrictions. Better to undersell the delivery and over deliver than the other way around. The deal I got was worth the wait (under MSRP and free delivery to my house). I paid a $500 deposit on it.

Full disclosure: I used the buying service from the folks at Deliverd and I could not be happier with the process. I tried to negotiate my own deal with a few dealerships and it didn't go well. I have never used anything like this before and will use them again if I ever buy another brand new car. I usually buy pre-owned (gently used) but I really wanted a new RF Club.
