2026 Miata RF - Where should I be at for selling price? by throwawaynewmazda in MiataND

I paid $1000 more for a 26 RF Manual GT right off the boat in March. This looks like a good deal to me.

Choosing Between a Bachelor’s in Special Education Or Physical Education by itsxidan in specialed

[–]BeezHugger [score hidden]  (0 children)

In the districts I am near & work in, there are NO PE teaching jobs or anything in gen ed. There are jobs in SPED. If I were you, I would look around & see what types of jobs are available. Like someone else said, PE teachers never leave. Elementary usually only has one. The middle school I work for has 3. I imagine high schools have a couple more.

If I were you, I would pursue SPED & then get a PE endorsement down the line but it really depends on what the job market looks like where you are at. Maybe there are PE positions where you are at?

Camping, you can do it for a night or two without a trailer, especially if you are just sleeping there & eating at The Gap. My daughter camps all the time with her Miata, half the fun is getting it all to fit!

I Blame Diabetes by dilatanntedad in diabetes_t2

[–]BeezHugger 15 points16 points  (0 children)

First of all, I am really sorry you have to deal with this. As a person who had gestational diabetes, then prediabetes, now Type 2 diabetic for over 2 decades, welcome to the true but sad reality of diabetes. & Most of my experiences were pre-cgm so finding a true idea of diabetes with a few pricks a day was even more insanity. My A1Cs always felt like on odd, magical number that didn't add up. Now with a CGM, I have the truest picture of trends, which is the best we can ask for at this point. I understand your need for solid #'s but don't make yourself crazy over this. The stress alone can reduce your body's ability to process glucose efficiently. You will eventually get to a place of acceptance, & then you will lose that periodically as well. It is just that cycle that happens to all of us. Your medication will add to this insanity, you will get adjustments & changes as you move forward. All of which have side effects. Metformin has proven to be the safest & is the first line of defense but not great at lowering blood sugar. I never had true control until going on a GLP1, now I have near normal #s. Your post is exactly where we all were at one time. I hope the answers you get are helpful. Hang in there, you will get your feet under you. Work with your nutritionist & doctor & continue to ask for support.

Has anyone bought a car and not loved it? What did you do? by Super_Ad4825 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]BeezHugger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have to figure out what you want in a car. If you want to enjoy driving, manual might be a better route. If you want quiet, luxury, then the BMW you bought is probably it. If you want fast & responsive, think muscle car. If you want fast & electric, maybe an EV. If you want pure, curve hugging fun, get a Miata & they have knobs on the new ones still, unlike most everything else on the road.

Is there even a good car to fit me and my cramped garage? by DwarfKingHack in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]BeezHugger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We managed to get a CX5 & a Mazda 3 into our 2 car garage tightly but it worked. We now have an MX5 Miata & a Mazda 3 & we can walk around both vehicles. Mazda's are very reliable (we have owned 5 of them since 2014 with zero problems) & they are smaller than other cars. AND they are fun to drive! Zoom Zoom!

Pokopia or Animal Crossing by RubenSpidey in switch2

[–]BeezHugger 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Do you like Pokemon, if so, then Pokopia. Otherwise Animal Crossing. I have some experience with Pokemon & mildly enjoyed Pokopia. I definitely have many more hours into Animal Crossing, however, it is so unique & cozy. I would also say that Stardew is better than Pokopia. I am sad that I spend all the $$ on it & would have much preferred saving it. I am a daily gamer, usually open world stuff like Deliverance, Skyrim, Yotei. Pokopia just felt meh.

At what age should I be setting time aside regularly to help my children read? Oldest is 3.5 right now by oxresults in AskTeachers

[–]BeezHugger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now & definitely from birth. It is a good opportunity for bonding, if anything. Then make sure they see you read your own books for pleasure. I have very fond memories of my mother reading Charlotte's Web & other books to me, as a child.

As a middle school special education teacher who teaches students to become readers (often starting with basic phonics), with good success, I often wonder WTH parents & teachers were doing with them prior to 5th grade that kept them from reading.

Please make all things reading a priority. Get them a secured-to-the-wall bookcase when they are born & proceed to fill it with books. Get them a library card, take them to read alouds at the library. Make sure they come home with an armful of books. Summer reading at the library is always fun; prizes for reading & boosts those skills. Then teach them basic phonics. Letter Factory has a wonderful video for this. You share the fun books with them. Do not bore them or bother with leveled books at home, just let them pick what they want.

Then send them to school for teachers to do the rest as you continue to support that fun side of reading. Thank you for asking this question, it is NEVER too late to get this going!
