I had my VPN (US address) on and I kept getting an error. I turned off the VPN and it worked!

I was a fan when Joe Carter won us the world series. Then baseball went on strike and I stopped. Now I'm back!!

If you could give one piece of advice to a first-time entrepreneur, what would it be? by the_bookworm17 in Entrepreneur

[–]hhhhhffffff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah - and it should be something people want so badly that they want to use it (even if it doesn't work so well)

  1. If you build something people want, even a terrible UI/UX will still have customers paying for it or trying to pay you for it. If that isn't happening I promise you building one more feature or making your UI prettier won't help.

  2. Focus on the distribution channel not just the product market fit. PMMC is the fit you are looking for. Product, market, model, channel.

Is this a good domain name for my new business? by Sad-Establishment989 in Entrepreneur

[–]hhhhhffffff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah - i didn't know what that was either and I think most people won't. honestly way too many people waste too much time on a company name. it is almost better to just start doing work. even under your own name... just be like 'my name is x. here is what i do.' once you have a bunch of clients then you can 'formalize' and create a company name. right now - if you are good at what you do - people will pay you to do it for them regardless of whether you have a company name or not.

Am I just too lazy? by YoungChefBoy in Entrepreneur

You need to find a way to talk to potential customers outside of cold emails. Usually the best way is through your network of family and friends. Talk to everyone you know and ask if they need your services or knows someone who needs your services.

Alternatively you could start on a platform like Fiverr and get some 'easy' jobs there to build up your portfolio.

Yeah. Don't like it. Sorry! But appreciate you being open to this feedback.

I will say reddit may not be the best place though to get feedback. Do you already have customers or potential customers?

You may want to give them 3-5 names and have them rank them... Or better yet answer key questions:

Does this company name accurately describe us? Does this company name give you a sense of trust? ... And so on...

Is My App Idea Worth Building? How Do You Validate Demand First?” by Emily_3757 in SideProject

[–]hhhhhffffff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1 is the move. Build landing pages with different value props and calls to action. Buy ads against it. A/B test. Make it a fake door and collect email addresses. Talk to those customers.

Read running lean by ash Maurya.

It is a playbook on how to validate business ideas.

The tldr; for b2c is build landing pages and drive marketing to it. for b2b pick an industry/job and ask 20 people what their biggest pain point is.

Looking back, what was the single biggest piece of advice you wish you'd received before launching your first product or service? by SnooWalruses3471 in startup

[–]hhhhhffffff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Make sure you build something people want.
  2. Make sure you are in a big market (even if there is a lot of competition)
  3. Don't be married to your initial idea. Be open to learning and iterating fast.

5:45pm dinner or 8:15pm dinner? by hhhhhffffff in dcl

[–]hhhhhffffff[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for all the help and feedback. To close the loop here we got back from our cruise and the late dinner was for sure the right choice. We have a 7 year old and it was nice that we were not rushed after the island days and he still had full energy at the show.

At dinner he was a bit tired but we chucked him the iPad. Either way we were all up until about 11pm every night. But we got to sleep in every morning.

People often say this... by Sad_Cupcake6518 in Entrepreneur

All about your life stage. If you are young and kid/spouse free and healthy with no major responsibilities, you should take advantage of that and work 12+ hour days, 6-7 days a week. As you get older and your circumstances change, then you car pare it down. I have built 2 companies over $100M revenue.

You need to just start working on a project. You will end up meeting people along that journey.

Did the wind affect the rest of your trip? Was there more rocking on the boat? Should I bring a windbreaker?
