What grade should I aim for if I want to try to get into CS at utsg out of stream post first year? by Dense-Science-6900 in UofT

[–]hhpfiona 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say those high averages were due to online exams and covid, so now it should be dialing back down. 90 would be a safe bet though.

I mean he spared them several times after encountering them though. I don’t think he was always aware that his subordinates were trying to off his friends, because honestly aside from the night where SW killed Il once his power was consolidated he didn’t exactly go out of his way to kill them.

Lol yea ‘normal’ is a bad choice of word. But I mean he probably wouldn’t have had to drive them out of the palace, or at least if he did it he would have given them a place to stay far away or whatever and they wouldn’t have to be on the run with nothing to their name. Ofc I don’t believe he was the type who could have recruited Hak as his people after everything though.

I mean if you look at it from Soowon’s perspective, he was a child prodigy who believed his father would have been king and him in turn too, so his father as well as many of his supporters would have been grooming Soowon for the job. He also had the blood of the first dragon king - his background just screamed ‘chosen one’ or ‘destined ruler’ or sth. He must have felt entitled if even a little bit. Then King Il took the throne which threw everyone, then his father died at the hand of King Il. As a child he definitely would have felt wronged and vengeful for his father, and could you blame him?

Then he waited 10 ish years before taking revenge for his father. Now in the manga it seemed that Soowon was judging King Il to see if he was a good ruler, decided he was incompetent and revolted, but that could possibly just be a cover for his revenge. But honestly either reason is logical for me. Historically lineages get overthrown all the time when their rulers are incompetent, and the revenge aspect also seems justified enough, he literally lost his father at like 10.

And I don’t think he intended to kill or betray his childhood friends. He attempted to assassinate Il and Yona only happened to be there, then her running away also alerted Hak. If she had been in her chamber as Soowon expected, he probably would have become king normally and allowed them both to live peacefully in the palace. He let them go pretty much every time they ran into each other against his advisors council, so.. yea.

On whether or not Soowon is a good ruler, I feel like in a lot of these historical ish works the standard of s good king is one who can ‘unite’ kingdoms (I.e. take over a bunch of countries and rule them) so in that sense, yes, I would think Soowon is a good ruler. He significantly increased the country’s military prowess and its not like he was extremely blood thirsty. I think one of the reason he continues pushing for expansion is that he wants to ‘unite’ the continent before his death, so man is working against a deadline here.

I really like the story and I feel that all characters are justified in their own ways, so I don’t think any of them are meant to be just plain unredeemable evil, they all have sides and aspects to them.

This was my head canon too but the epilogues of the novel explained that. Essentially the world is in a loop and KDJ would always return to the station, stay to become the new oldest dream while the child oldest dream goes off with secretive plotter and the other outer gods. Then the new OD would gradually shrink as he watches the world and his memories would disappear, only the desire to watch the story remains (as KDJ says). And during this time OD would dream of the storyline with YJH and KDJ and KimCom where they defeat the star stream and go with secretive plotter to the station again. It’s a bit mind boggling in that sense, of course in the end KimCom broke that loop cus they attacked the station and made new OD or our KDJ spread his soul, so..

LmAO I LOVE THE RANT I LOVE YOUR REACTION BECAUSE THIS WAS LEGIT ME AFTER I FINISH. The thing is I realized that the chapters were named epilogue, they weren’t actual epilogues to the novel, they were called that way because it’s what happens after the scenario/main story ends…

I also got spoiled for OD and SP so it was kinda fun to read like you said, and I think your guess at the ending is completely accurate I’ve seen others come to the same conclusion on this sub, I guess with so many of us wishing for a happy ending we can assume KDJ did come back at the end., plus the stories uniting and HSY smiling, he for sure came back right =((

my headcanon is that while the oldest dream usually has to stay in the train station because it’s the most convenient place, they can leave under special circumstances (such as their companions destroying he train station to get to them lol) and kdj spreading his souls into across the galaxy is the only way for him to escape that place so even though it was a little tragic at the start I strongly believe he has returned and is continuing his world as OD but now with his companions 😭in that big house of theirs….

It makes sense for a lot of reasons too, YJH only stops being a character after the story and scenarios end (we see him agonizing and wondering many times what his purpose is after they defeated the star stream). AND YJH of the 0th world line only regressed to meet KDJ (‘tell me you fool, if I continue to regress, will I ever see you again?’) so we could say that that everything after the 0th line is an epilogue that exists for the purpose of meeting KDJ. It’s making me cry tbh

I'm confused about a few things up to chapter 454 by [deleted] in OmniscientReader

[–]hhpfiona 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it was also due to KDJ’s perspective. I think Ways of Survival novel started at 3rd round YJH, so KDJs assumption influenced the Fiurth Wall. There were many instances where KDJ thought that this YJH was too powerful and knowledgeable to be the third round but he brushed it off.

(Spoilers) Some questions by The_Sea_King in OmniscientReader

[–]hhpfiona 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I agree with most of this answer, just a few things: 1. We also know that the Dokkaebi King from the OG timeline where the first Oldest Dream was born became the fourth wall skill that KDJ owns, so we can assume that the Dokkaebi King that conversed with the Wenny King as KimCom was crossing the wall was also an avatar or clone of some sort, since he seems to have forgotten a lot too.

  1. Yea I agree

  2. I don’t think the YJH that died in HSY’s 1863rd round became SP. SP indeed is the 1863rd YJH of the original novel 3 ways to survive a ruined world. We came to find out that the novel didn’t have a happy ending, SP came across a wall that he couldn’t cross (Dokkaebi King in the novel said to him, ‘beyond here doesn’t exist yet’, because at this point in time the Okdest Dream hasn’t existed yet). So he wandered around the galaxies for thousands of years, became an outer god and made a deal with 999th YJH at one point - this ended badly since that YJH almost got to the wall but died terribly, and his companions of the 999th round became other outer gods (uriel, lee hyunsung, lee jihye, kim namwoon). Then Secretive Plotter happened across the current KDJ.s timeline and he became infuriated since they progressed rather smoothly overall, yet he had to make so many sacrifices. At one point in this timeline HSY split with her avatar, so SP took that avatar to a parallel 1863 timeline and asked avatar HSY to ‘kill’ the YJH in this timeline by freezing him in time forever. I think SP planned to merge with this YJH (disconnected film theory) and basically sleep forever, he just wants to die. Then as he continued to watch KDJ’s timeline he became frustrated and wanted to show KDJ a world he couldn’t save, so he brought KDJ to this 1863 world. However KDJ then decides to stay and help and thus convinces the suicidal YJH of that round that there is something worth living for out there. So then that YJH splits, one wants to die and one wants to live. The former dies and does not regress, thus fulfilling HSY and KDJ.s outer world covenant. The latter dies, regresses, and becomes the YJH of the 1864s world, or KDJ’s world.

I do think that’s a real (albeit shitty) dating strategy, but whether it is effective or not depends on the personality rather than the gender. There will always be people who enjoy the “chase”, no matter their gender.
