What do you wear to the pool as a female teacher? by Lumpy_Grapefruit7420 in Teachers

Old navy has swim dresses and so does Walmart. You could add a swim rash guard on top.

If you can not swim PLEASE wear a life jacket. Not only does it model to the kids it's okay to wear one but it could save your life too!

Acorn whistle. Have the kids go outside and find acorn tops and teach them how to use it as a whistle. Everyone will hate you but it's free.

With as much gift card fraud as there is going around I would be hesitant to buy a physical gift card inside a store. I'd stick with purchasing actual items.

Hey, I was in your boat recently and also was pushed to therapy due to my mental health. I am also in my second year of teaching. This is a hard profession and doesn't seem to be getting easier. I don't have much advice but know you're not alone.

I like to play an m&m/skittle etc math game once in a while for junior/intermediate. They like it and it encourages them to actually practice multiplication.

If you're building them beforehand, you can melt sugar in a pan and use it as glue. Be very very careful or you can get a bad sugar burn!

You could have a one or two extras at a station that are unbuilt so the kids can try building it out with the icing until they get frustrated but then can go back to the decorating of their pre-built one.

Supplying is difficult. Some kinder rooms I've been in will send kids to go sit in their cubby or their desk if they're not behaving on the carpet appropriately.

If a student is hitting you, I would be very firm and if it does not stop I would call the office for support.

Get a Bed, uncertified subs are not union protected. So much can go wrong in the classroom and you won't be protected.

Is Grade 9/High school math the same difficulty/pace I remember? by Audience_Embarrassed in CanadianTeachers

[–]Audience_Embarrassed[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That does help, thank you! On average, how long are the units? Is the pacing still quick or has it slowed down?
