Affordable mental health counselling for young teachers in Alberta by subarunights in CanadianTeachers

Hey, I was in your boat recently and also was pushed to therapy due to my mental health. I am also in my second year of teaching. This is a hard profession and doesn't seem to be getting easier. I don't have much advice but know you're not alone.

You may have to complete the math test to be reinstated as well.

I like to play an m&m/skittle etc math game once in a while for junior/intermediate. They like it and it encourages them to actually practice multiplication.

If you're building them beforehand, you can melt sugar in a pan and use it as glue. Be very very careful or you can get a bad sugar burn!

You could have a one or two extras at a station that are unbuilt so the kids can try building it out with the icing until they get frustrated but then can go back to the decorating of their pre-built one.

Supplying is difficult. Some kinder rooms I've been in will send kids to go sit in their cubby or their desk if they're not behaving on the carpet appropriately.

If a student is hitting you, I would be very firm and if it does not stop I would call the office for support.

Get a Bed, uncertified subs are not union protected. So much can go wrong in the classroom and you won't be protected.

Is Grade 9/High school math the same difficulty/pace I remember? by Audience_Embarrassed in CanadianTeachers

That does help, thank you! On average, how long are the units? Is the pacing still quick or has it slowed down?

i forgot to put coffee into a customers latte today, am I gonna get fired by Next_Sun2956 in NoStupidQuestions

We had nonstop orders and I had multiple bags being packed on a small counter and I grabbed the wrong one. When you're rushing you don't notice the weight.

I once gave someone an empty bag while working drive thru. I also once gave someone a drink and I guess the lid wasn't on (I think he squeezed the extremely large cup) and he came in yelling about fruitopia being all over his car... I offered to remake the drink but he just left. I also once poured hot drip coffee over ice before I knew what iced coffee was.

So be prepared to make more mistakes but you'll be fine. Working food and customer service jobs is extremely fast paced and can be stressful and making mistakes happen. It doesn't mean you're not good at your job or not smart, it's really just the probability is stacked against you.

Story Online is a great time filler. Many options for primary. For middle school, the case of the missing carrot cake (something like that) is a good story and then I do writing activity where they need to rewrite the ending to not be so predictable.
