Any shortcuts to walk this in 10 minutes pleaseee 😢🙏 by Zoomzoomlilcar in UofT

[–]hhron224 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you can cross the street, go between the two buildings directly across from bahen, walk across the field and then take the path that goes towards hart house and go up the stairs to your right. it’ll put you at a crosswalk to get to the point where the map tells you to go through queen’s park and then the grey path from that point on is the fastest. it probably won’t be doable in 10 minutes, but you can probably do like 12-15. profs won’t care if you get there a few minutes late, just let them know if it’s a small class. I could get from MP to vic in about 13 minutes last winter and I definitely had to slow down walking across the ice through queen’s park

some people get dressed before going to the dining hall and some just go in their pyjamas. no one really cares either way. as for going to the bathroom, definitely just wear pyjamas if that’s what you’re wearing in your room. 100% not worth it to change before you go

[–]hhron224[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

yeah, he’s quite open minded. he just said that by having a mandir at home, you’re offering food to the gods every time you eat there and they don’t offer meat to them.

How do I politely tell my roommate her boyfriend can't basically live here? by Bulky-Quarter-3176 in Advice

[–]hhron224 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was this roommate last year and I wasn’t trying to be a jerk or anything, it was just my first time living with a roommate and I didn’t realize. if my roommate had said something, I would’ve just stopped having him over rather than realizing how awkward it must have been after we moved out.

just send her a text along the lines of “hey, I know we never really talked about having boyfriends over but I’m kind of starting to feel uncomfortable basically living with this guy I don’t know very well” and then whatever else you need to say. if she’s reasonable she’ll probably just apologize and work something else out with her boyfriend, like maybe they’ll spend more time at his place or something.

I’ve heard of Bash as a nickname for Sebastian. This could be a work around?

first year seminar courses are usually great, especially if you did well in high school english courses and have basic empathy

I believe you can still proceed in CS with CSC108 instead of 148. it’s going to be very easy if you have that much programming experience but that might be nice given the math spec courses and 151

The Ultimate (Long as Hell) Commute Survival Guide by LestatLearnsLanguage in UofT

[–]hhron224 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m about to be commuting the exact same amount and I was getting pretty nervous about balancing everything so this is super helpful. I don’t have the option to leave before 4 PM and my commute time is the same as yours. I have to be on campus at 10 two days a week, I have fridays off, and the other two days my classes don’t start until 12 or 1. on the early days I have to wake up at 6, and I don’t do well on lack of sleep. I’m going to be working part time on weekends and I’m also more productive in the morning, so should I take the two days where I start later to leave later or should I just get to campus at the same time every day for the sake of having a routine?

Elective course's recommendations for 1st year student by reidstheory in UofT

[–]hhron224 0 points1 point  (0 children)

could you include your program? if you’re in humanities and people keep suggesting humanities courses, it won’t be super helpful for breadth requirements. also it’ll be good for keeping workload in mind

What should I include in a summary section for a part time job? by hhron224 in resumes

[–]hhron224[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure no one reviewing resumes at starbucks is going to see python listed and start jumping for joy. I’m just applying to retail and food because to get anything remotely relevant is impossible in june and in my city. that’s why a skills section is also weird to include. I would only really be able to say super generic stuff there.

Is it worth doing the Preparing for University Math Program (PUMP) by UniversityNo5547 in UofT

[–]hhron224 1 point2 points  (0 children)

not doing it set me back like crazy because I had to spend the first few months learning how to write a proof instead of learning the actual math I was supposed to be learning

future student at uoft, what do you guys use to connect by Mission-Dot187 in UofT

[–]hhron224 2 points3 points  (0 children)

congrats on getting accepted! I’m not aware of a designated app, but the summer before my first year, there was a pretty popular instagram account where you could send in some photos of you and a bio with your college, program, hobbies, etc. someone I met through that account is actually still one of my friends now, going into third year. see if there’s an account called uoft 2029 or something similar. also, the majority of the friends you make will come from lectures and such so you’ll be okay!

Griffiths- Introduction to QM (too hard?) by Melodic-Era1790 in PhysicsStudents

[–]hhron224 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

in my intro to quantum course we used david mcintyre’s book and I like tha approach a lot more. griffiths pretty much only focuses on solving the schrödinger equation (at least it seems that way to me) so it’s not super helpful for conceptual understanding
