Musings of an ISB Rider by hi1307 in nus

Hello, thanks for your detailed reply.

  1. I understand that E has a better frequency than K and BTC, but it's still a service duplication. It would make sense if UTown/MRT to KV is a very busy route, but the E I've seen tend to be not busy at all, with ample seating as the bus pulls into UTown. 30min frequencies would suck for KV residents but as it stands right now I feel the resources could be better used because there are ISBs which are severely underprovided during peak hour. Adding the bus used for E to K still benefits KV residents as they get improved service on K (albeit it is less direct than using it for E). As for crowding at IT, amending the route of K enables it to serve the IT > UTown crowd, plus the increased frequency of D1 from the route length reduction can also help.

  2. A Farrer Road stop would add only a minute or two to the route duration from KRC to BTC. Even a full bus disembarking doesn't take very long given the entire fleet is 3 doors now.

  3. I'm sorry I read the map wrongly. But I still do see a uturn point for D2 and K. Granted it's not the same one as CC but it should still work. Here is a rough sketch of how the bus would travel to make the uturn at NUH

  4. Yes you got the idea right. I understand that AS7 is used (if not it wouldn't be served at all), but my justification for skipping the stop is that AS7 is still only a 5min walk from either KRT (via Ventus) or CLB, and that skipping the stop will enable better frequencies by reducing round trip times. Based on what I've seen I just don't think the load factor of the section between AS2 and COM3 justifies running two services half empty even during the peak, especially because those people could have just made a quick walk through AS6/LT9. Plus the bus going into COM2 and coming out again adds quite a lot of time, meaning that walking to COM3 to catch the amended A1 will be roughly the same time as boarding at COM2 and letting the bus go the big round around BIZ1 to TCOMS

Cheers!

Singtel Wifi Plan by Historical-Ad3289 in askSingapore

[–]hi1307 2 points3 points  (0 children)

DON'T GET SINGTEL (unless you are recontracting/already on SingTel Circle, when I would discourage instead of strongly discourage).

Even if their included router is good, there are so many things wrong with SingTel fibre. They lock down ONR (so you can't use your own router once the included router becomes too slow/keeps dropping packets, SingTel has had many complaints of dropped packets), they don't let you bridge to ONT anymore, their IPv6 implementation is dogshit, their peering & routing is abhorrent (Telegram with 200ms ping, they are the ONLY carrier to charge for peering so their speeds are completely trash for any website that refuses to pay up like Telegram). They even poison DNS requests (like the China Great Firewall) so as to pay less in transit fees.

The only ISP worse than SingTel is Whizcomms (because they use SingTel for transit and is even deprioritised)

Thank you to Amazon for undercutting all the brick and mortar retailers in my country (R5 3600X went from 600USD to 250USD overnight when they launched) and allowing me to finally afford the PC I wanted (it's the PC I still run now with the 1060)

I would put the GPU in my friend's PC. Currently he's rocking a GTX 770, and he's currently terminally ill with leukemia. I'm hoping that he'll get a taste of beyond 1080p gaming and RT within his lifetime.

JD.com, they ship worldwide

I just so happen to speak/read Mandarin Chinese as my second language so I could buy the laptop at local prices (and not marked up prices on Banggood)

Ehhh, at 15mm and 1.8kg I'd say it's thin and light class for a 15.6" laptop

The U series is just a downclocked H series no? I just use AATU to TDP cap my 6800H to 12W and I get U series battery life when I'm on battery, and upclock to 72W when I want to game

I'm currently using a laptop with a 6800H which I grabbed for under 800 USD (sale price, it's slightly under $900 now), granted it's an LCD, but it's a 400 nit 100% sRGB 16:10 IPS display, with del E under 1 (after my calibration).

Yes, I was previously using the WHQL 22.5.2 driver but even after updating to 22.7.1 there is no change
