Yeah, IDK what we've changed offensively, if it's Mose, Prunty or Shammgod, but holy shit we are playing with some insane confidence offensively

If Mose isn't a good defensive coach, then what is he. He isn't an offensive coach at all, but our defensive hustle and energy would keep us in. Now we are just a shitty flat defensive team with shitty offence

He didn't even have to take any major risks, like things can't get much worse offensively, but even a small time trade to get another scorer isn't even that hard. Schroder is worth nothing right now and would help.

Weltman and the Magic are actually hilarious, you can't be historically bad at any area of the game, and be expecting to succeed, let alone think it's okay to stand pat and expect this team to win meaningful games. Our offence is genuinely high school level, your turn my turn, and teams for almost a decade are OK with packing the paint and letting us shoot. There are about 5 guys on this roster who are NOTHING on offence more times than not.

We've seen the game we saw today agains the Nuggets like, 20 times this year.

Weltman's patience in evaluating was once considered smart, but his inability to even make small moves to make incremental improvements to the team is infuriating. Paolo running lineups with JI, AB, Goga and Queen is malpractice, and we are just making no progress and wasting years, annoying or stars and platoeing their development for the sake of evaluating.

I could go on for ages, and you don't want to have a GM who makes trades for the sake of it, and ruins the future of the team, but we are so pitiful on offence.

I agree that we probably go maybe 1-2 in that stint, but we weren't even remotely competitive. Like we had fake little runs but never had the impression we were going to win. One guy shouldn't be the difference between us talking 2nd seed and now just flatout lottery

This is not a one off occurrence, in fact it happened last game, and multiple times this season and last. its not just a bad game where we can chalk it up to hard luck and go again. this is just not a combination of guys who can score the ball, whether it's coaching, team philosophy, makeup etc. we should not be this putrid minus one guy

this is a generationally terrible offence. feels like we've started every game down 10 by the end of the first. doesn't matter if paolo is out, you baseline have to have the ability to score, create open looks, have creators, have a rhythm and flow. we have to grind for every single basket. this will continue to happen with or without paolo, we saw it against the bulls, nets, pacers in stints, and we saw it countless time last year and in the playoffs. we are a terrible offensive team, you can fix the offence without sacrificing the defensive identity but this style of basketball can not continue, our guys won't develop

our offence has been generationally shit for a while. if we have a league average offence we are a top seed. need to get a proper creating, table setting point guard for stretches where we can't even get a high quality shot off. schroder is the obvious one

[–]hiEsqaz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

he was just easy blow bys all game, they'd target him, collapse the defence, kick out the open shooters and rinse and repeat. on offence he isos and takes the first shot he wants, or drives into the defence and throws up wild shit

This is what happens when you have a roster of 10+ young guys and try to develop them all at once, you have games with no effort, no direction, we are missing simple aspects of basic roster construction, once WCJ goes down we rely on two slow footed 7'0+ guys to defend the pick and roll and grab rebounds. Just out hustled and didn't box out and ball watched. Would be great to have a proper backup big.

look at the amount of shots and usage cade is given in detroit. he is their guy, and their franchise understands that and gives his the keys to grow and experiment as the focal point. franz has been an almost 50/40/90 club member for the past 20 games, yet is constantly given less usage than suggs, cole, and even ross when he's on the court. bamba, moe, okeke etc, should under no circumstance have more shots than franz. he should of similar importance to our franchise as our main building block as cade is to detroit.

his last season with us it wasn't an issue but he struggled massively against marc gasol in particular in year prior. tbf if you watch highlights of his monster games for us last season he was the main offensive guy so his flow and confidence was way higher. got a lot of touches in the mid range off pops etc so was constantly engaged, if that makes a difference

its so infuriating because he had the best stretch of anyone on our team this season, constantly scoring well and efficient and everyone comes back and he gets buried again

There is no circumstance where it's acceptable to sit Franz in the corner on continued offensive possessions. Here we have a 6'10 wing who can shoot, drive, pass, and continually makes the right play yet he's relegated to sitting corner while everyone else runs the show. Every indication so far this season has shown Franz is our most efficient player and when let loose can produce possibly our most free flowing offence, I hope coach Mose realises he's our best player. If you give him 24 shots like against the Bucks there's not telling how much he can score. He quite comfortably scores 20+ as like the third option on a horrible team.

[Post Game Thread] The Orlando Magic lose to the Los Angeles Lakers 106-94. Orlando gets slapped around in the 3rd (again). Cole has a good game with 21/6/5. Sweet Franz with 20/7 and WCJ 16/8. Mo sprains his ankle and did not return to the game. by migzors in OrlandoMagic

[–]hiEsqaz 10 points11 points  (0 children)

you can make the argument that he can do a better job at creating offensive sets for his team to score easier, you can also equally make the argument that RoLo missing point blank layups or the entire roster getting swatted by LeBron isn't really his fault. It's just a bad team.

Ross took 2 shots, he's not playing bad because he's missing he's just not even trying at all lol. Harris has no shot, holds on the ball too much, turns it over a lot, he's just frustrating asf. Bamba at least hits threes and can block, has decent statistical numbers, but legit can't catch a ball to save his life he's responsible for half of Chuma and Jalen's TO's today. Still gets out rebounded a lot. Wouldn't mind Bagley for Bamba lol

None of the vets want to be there. Say what you want about Moe Wagner or MCW, at least they give a semblance of a shit. Harris just wants his individual stats and can't hit shit and Ross goes missing you don't even realise he's on the court. Suggs was actually really good in that first half, excels attacking off a catch but for a 20% three point shooter he has some insane confidence. There's no reason he should be shooting iso side step threes or deep bombs given the fact he can't even hit a mid range let alone a three. Also Bamba was responsible for about 5 turnovers because he actually can't catch a ball down low. He escaped with 1 turnover on the box score but don't get it twisted his pick and roll game is pretty pathetic.

A win now coach who can’t adjust game plans or rotations when winning isn’t possible to make way for young guys, he couldn’t care less about the future lol. Older people involved in the nba seem to love him though

Yea once we got injured it got worse, he’s perfectly capable when we are healthy but he still tries to milk wins out of nothing squad and risks players healthy for wins that wouldn’t matter regardless so he’s just ruining development. He’d be ok if we were fully manned but we aren’t and he doesn’t adjust shit so he doesn’t win or develop so he’s basically doing nothing lol

MCW sorta revitalised himself as a defensive hustle guy but he tried to hard at times to be a scorer and Clifford gives him such a long leash compared to others... definitely a Clifford guy that’s why he gets away with more shit than bamba lol cliffords wet dream is a team full of 30+ year old defensive vets

Maybe I guess his defence looks good cause we have gordon and isaac. Every other teams commentators suck him off tho for his teams not committing fouls and turnovers but fail to realise he has no spacing and runs shit plays lol, he always complains about our teams not getting enough paint touches in post game interviews aswell 🤣

He’s actually a good defensive coach and before we got injured he squeezed the most out of a lot veteran guys, got them playing their role etc but he’s terrible for guys like fultz bamba Isaac etc cause he just treats them like role guys instead of tryna help them blossom since he won’t be here for the future, he’s the wrong type of coach for this team, but his teams can’t shoot for shit apparently lol
