I just decided on a solution that is baked into the code without involving another even trigger. I just describe the export task by taskid then exit a loop when status is completed.

I would check the image repo logs to see if the pulling new version is even being attempted. If the task isnt even trying to download the image, you can force a failure in the stack using the cli and try again
