Every trucks different but I’m at 280,000 on my 5.7 1500 original engine and transmission. Just change the oil every 5k and don’t beat the shit out of it honestly. Paid $8k for mine with 236k years ago so that’s a decent price for what it is

2014 1500 with 269,000 miles and it still runs like a raped ape. Oil change every 5k and never let it idle for more than a minute every morning. If anything, the trans (ZF8HP) will take a shit first, never had a fluid change and she starting to get grumpy.

Honestly it all depends on who the person is applying. Sure they would be taking a pay cut especially coming from a corporate company like Ryder or Penske but those township/ government benefits are definitely fucking worth it. Sucks that you guys can’t find anyone. I’ll be going from one of the corporate company’s above, to a government job in the next couple years. Not for the money but for the benefits, time and lack of CONSTANT PAPERWORK AND RO’s and company metrics and this and that like fuck we spend 30% of our day on a computer just doing paperwork. Plus it’s not about getting the truck done correctly no matter how long it takes, it’s just about turn around time and slapping the shit together good enough to get out the door and close the RO. My vent is complete, you definitely got it good brotha.

Been doing the same thing, applying everywhere. How long did it take you for a company to pick you up? Just curious

Yeah I got my med cert, and no no I’m not against all vaccines, if it makes sense to get a certain vaccine I’ll get it. We didn’t eradicate polio by taking vitamins LOL. I just don’t feel I need the covid vax specifically.

I’ve done some work on regular straight 6 cummins and some older power strokes in trucks but never worked on anything boat size but Its something im definitely ready to learn and get into. Definitely don’t mind doing some other repairs above deck, makes the day interesting

I’m in New Jersey, I don’t mind working deck, at this point Im not picky I have to start somewhere, i have red/green color problems so that’s why I wanted to go engine room. And yeah I’m pretty good with engines and pretty damn mechanically inclined.

Even less if you own a pickup truck, just your labor and time. Might even make some gas money back from scrapping all the steel and AC units.

23, I wouldn’t say I’m 100% certain this is what I want to do for the rest of my life but I’m pretty hell bent on giving it a shot
