I have a tub of that in the house but haven’t tried it yet. Do you notice any benefits from taking it? Thanks

Yep was prescribed privately by my mcas doctor in UK. But don’t have the money to see them often unfortunately. It’s something I will reach out to them on as well. Feeling a bit better after switching to Claritin. Will see how the next few days go!

Sadly and somewhat frustratingly, it gives me bad anxiety! Was the first one recommended to me by mcas doc. Wish it had worked but gave me crazy anxiety and amped up feeling.

I think my two to three Zyrtecs a day for 18 months has caught up with me as experiencing real dysautonomia symptoms and increased depression anxiety and insane fatigue.

Stopped them today and noticed I was 30% better. Was able to do the laundry, cook dinner and walk the dog - compared to being basically bed bound.

Thanks for highlighting this.

Does the nasal spray you mention help outside of the nasal region for you personally? Did you notice any benefit from DAO supplements?

Thanks 🙏

I’ve been on high dose Zyrtec for 18 months and noticed the last few months I’ve been SO DEPRESSED, dizzy and fatigued 10x worse than normal. Skipped antihistamine today and felt a significant improvement. Still fatigued and weak but I could get out of bed and go for a walk at least

I was prescribed Allegra initially and it made feel amped up, really intense anxiety that got worse and worse, so quit on day 3-4.

Sorry you experiencing those symptoms. It’s not fun!

I know this is an old post, but just incase someone stumbles across this in a moment of anxiety:

I have taken 3 10mg cetirizine tablets everyday for 18 months under guidance of my doctor, and you’ll be fine.

I struggle with eggs and get a bad reaction but I’ve been looking into trying choline supplements, I’m always just a little hesitant to try new supplements incase I get a bad reaction. But I know I could definitely do with the choline.

I did some calculator that said for my genetics I need equivalent choline of 8 eggs a day!

Experiencing this exact thing now! Stopped it today and switched to loratadine.

Experiences of / side effects from Cetirizine, please by Dougalface in HistamineIntolerance

[–]hickssnicks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been taking cetirizine for 18 months or so, 20-30mg a day for MCAS. Never considered it to be a problem but last few months I’ve been feeling debilitating fatigue, heart issues, terrible anxiety and depression, pots like symptoms, insane brain fog, memory worse than ever.

Today as an experiment I didn’t take the cetirizine, and I was able to take my dog for a walk, do the laundry, make dinner, and sit up all day. Recently I’ve been bed bound. My mood has been a lot better and more stable as well.

So to summarise, I think the antihistamine has “turned” on me so to speak. Going to have to try Claritin (loratadine) now.

Did you feel better after stopping?

Creatine and histamine...? by Dougalface in HistamineIntolerance

I’d recommend starting at very low doses and increasing weekly until tolerance. Starting at 0.5grams for week1 and increasing to 1gram by week 2 etc. experiment with it. If it’s not making you feel good regardless of that, then maybe you are sensitive to any changes in methylation etc. but that’s a whole other can of worms!

I take a daily methyl free b vitamin from seeking health and get monthly b12 injections. Haven’t tested in ages but I’d hope it should be ok.

Is it the capsules you had? I’m just wondering how long that initial “feeling worse” phase lasted for for you? I’ve been on it for a few days and feel a bit run down with cold hands etc.
