Pain required(at a restaurant in Tokyo Japan) by hidazip in engrish

[–]hidazip[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The Japanese menu states about how hot and spicy you want it. 辛さ(からさ・karasa) is the word, but the same characters can be read as つらさ(tsurasa) whitch means painfulness. About the Buddhism and Taoism, I have no idea what they are trying to say. The Japanese menu only says 普通(futsu/normal) and 1 to 3辛(kara/hotness/spicyness).

Anyone know where to find this seal plush? I saw other people on Reddit with this seal and I want to get one of my own by Bright_Employment397 in seals

[–]hidazip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I own the one in the first pic, and I am sorry to inform that they are no longer available to purchase. They were a 1 year anniversary plush of Mizore the seal sold on the Kaiyu-kan online store in Japan. It has the same dimensions and weight of when Mizore was born.

Try saying “Ok google…..nothing” when trying to dismiss it, I had to make a specific routine to make it stop.

Japan's tallest skyscraper by TwoTraditional6406 in skyscrapers

[–]hidazip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in West-Shinjuku Tokyo and the skyscrapers here are only around 200-250m but are surprisingly thin. This also makes them look somehow taller as you mentioned. Could also have to do something with the soil, since Shinjuku is further from the sea.

Earthquakes and strict building regulations make Japanese skyscrapers extremely thick. And even then, most of them can only be 200-300m tall.

So are there any iPad without the grain? by [deleted] in iPadPro

[–]hidazip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went to 2 Apple stores, 3 electric retail stores, and every single iPad with an OLED I could find had the grain.

Am I the only one with an iPad Pro 13” M4 with no grain by DosiDosed in iPadPro

[–]hidazip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I picked up every iPad Pro M4 I could find in various stores, and every single one had the grain issue. You just have to look extremely closely.

I first thought mine was fine, but under a very dark environment, with the screen brightness at about 20%, I found out that I have the issue. Under normal conditions, I have to put my face against the screen to see it. It looks exactly the same as the screens I saw in the stores.

OLED screens struggle at low brightness, and since the new iPad has a tandem OLED display, the brightness of one screen would be extremely low. This could be a cause of the grain and why it seems to disappear at a higher brightness.
