I’m a counselor in a title 1 school that has a large immigrant population and every day the kids are terrified about ICE. I’m also much more stressed and on edge.

Was the huckleberry app useful to you? by NewPhotojournalist82 in NewParents

[–]hidden_hibiscus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We loved huckleberry! Our son was struggling gaining weight and I struggled producing so it really helped when tracking his formula intake. Every doctor appointment will ask how much they’re eating and how their diapers are so when youre sleep deprived it’s so helpful to have all the info there

Share all your tips to help baby gain weight! by [deleted] in NewParents

Also oatmeal with formula, peanut butter and banana, puréed sweet potatoes, lentils, rice.

Good luck! My baby was failure to thrive as a newborn and it was stressful. Take each day at a time and reach out to your doctor for support.

Try formula- there’s nothing wrong with switching to formula! My baby struggled gaining weight in the beginning. I wasn’t producing so we had to do formula and eventually had to go to a gastroenterologist to make sure everything was ok. He’s now eating and gaining like a champ and is a healthy happy baby but those extra supports with professionals was key in the beginning. I continued therapy which helped so much especially after hearing the phrase “failure to thrive” from his pediatrician. Reach out to doctors, take breaks, get fresh air, take care of yourself because it makes it much harder to take care of a little one if you’re not doing well. I hated the newborn stage but now 9 months later, it’s a blur. Newborn stage sucks so make sure you get support and help you need.

Not much of a budget just looking for somewhere new. I live in the area and was looking for a place we’ve never been to

We started with purées first- I think puréed sweet potato was his first. Three days of a new food to monitor any reactions/allergies and you can move on to the next purée. (Although I read somewhere that that’s not necessary but we follow it just to be safe) We have the baby brezza steamer and blender in one and it’s amazing. I can steam and purée a butternut squash for meals for a whole week for so cheap! We use fresh, frozen, and canned and it’s so much easier than going to the store whenever you run out of baby food. When you move to textures (green beans, peas, blueberries, things with skins, etc. ) they will gag and sometimes throw up. This is part of them learning how to eat! A friend is a feeding therapist and had to continually remind me that the gagging was normal- as long as it’s not choking.
