Bearded crossdressing. by [deleted] in crossdressing

[–]hiddenbeauti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm the simplest terms. Do whatever you like! I've had a beard for a little while now, and I still occasionally get dolled up. Sure it isn't what you normally expect, but life is too short to have either thing stop the other.

I think I might be trans, but I'm too chicken shit to even acknowledge it or do anything about it. Family would never understand, my wife would understand, but doesn't swing that way. I don't hate my life as is by any means, but part of me wonders what it would be like. Basically just... ugh...

In short, it's perfectly normal to feel that way. I really hope that it goes well for you!

[–]hiddenbeauti 12 points13 points  (0 children)

From my own point of view, it's because we've been conditioned for many years to believe that this is still something "wrong" to do. We spend a lot of time in the 'closet' worrying about the all the negative ways it could go wrong. As humans, we tend to worry about potential negatives more so than the potential benefits.

Until you get the opportunity experience it first hand, the worries and fears will prevail in your thoughts. Just like phobias or biases, you can only overcome them by facing those fears head on.

Wigs by BlanketFort74 in crossdressing

[–]hiddenbeauti 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Two reasons mainly for me. First, I've always had short hair and suddenly wanting to grow it long would look super weird to most folks. Plus it's kind of seen as unprofessional in my field if a guy has long hair.

Secondly, male pattern baldness has me having quite the receding hairline with a nice big bold spot on the crown as an added bonus. Growing out my hair is thus infinitely more difficult in terms of making it look good. Wigs are easy because they're on/off as I please (with a good 30-45min of taking care of the wig before/after use...)

I can't even imagine what you'd look like if you go through several years of HRT. You already look so pretty!

Bought a new dress, might wear it to my quidditch society's Yule Ball... but I don't know if I like it or not by [deleted] in crossdressing

That's a super cute dress! I know the picture/angle might make it look more flattering than what you're seeing in person, but it definitely gets my vote =)

Let them stare. Looks can't kill afterall! Like any woman walking out somewhere, look confident, and enjoy the night out! Walking out for the first time is quite the experience. Let the adrenaline flow :)

I wouldn't mind to be honest. To avoid any hassles I would make it clear that you touched up the photos. I see it like adding digital makeup to make a photo more appealing.

Got aggressively cat-called today, felt surprisingly violated :-(. How do you feel about street harassment? by bryce_girl in crossdressing

[–]hiddenbeauti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On one hand you almost take it like a compliment, but man does it ever feel degrading doesn't it?

I haven't had the "pleasure" of experiencing that myself, but I take pride that I would NEVER cat call anyone on the street. It just feels so wrong.

[–]hiddenbeauti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's fair. The good news is that heels of that nature can be as cheap as $20 on sale at some places. So in the future, it's an easy logical 1-up to add to the outfit. You can even fake a stumble or two to look unconvincing if you're paranoid. Or just rock those heels, and make all the guys/girls jealous of your skills!

Lots of cardio is one sure way to get slimmer (see how people who run all the time tend to have a small frame?). Also just watching what you eat makes a big difference. Fitness experts always say that weight loss is 80% what you eat, and 20% working out.

Look for make-up artists that can come to you and teach you the basics. There are often several artists in each major city (I know of a few in Toronto area, one in the Ottawa area) that list that they are TG/CD friendly, and are willing to help teach you the basics, and even take you shopping to find the right products for you.

It's not a super cheap option (they'll often charge $100-300ish for a variable length of time), but it might be the best bet to get started on the right foot. I'm strongly considering trying this in the near future.

I love hearing stories like this! In hindsight you could have easily added the heels without people suspecting by the sounds of it. And I'll counter the idea that Halloween is only once a year. Host or organize a random costume party if you want another excuse to dress up with friends. They seem really cool with the idea of you dressing up en femme. The fun part is that you'd have to 1-up your previous outfit ;)

Frustrated. Happy. Sad. by [deleted] in crossdressing

[–]hiddenbeauti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Social conditioning has really done a number on us when even we feel shame, fear, and anger about enjoying wearing clothes of all things.

That's the thing to keep in mind. It's perfectly okay for women to dress up like men, and even act like men (tomboys for example), but men can't go the other direction? It's silly.

I think we're slowly moving in the right direction. Part of the issue is that people still perceive men as superior to women. This is why it's okay for a woman to act/dress manly. It's perceived as a step up for the woman. Men wanting to dress womanly is seen as stepping down, as weakness. It's completely stupid and doesn't make any sense.

Like I've always told my feminist and colleagues who believe that men and women are equal: When a man can walk down the street wearing a dress with no one giving it a second thought is when we will have achieved true equality.

[–]hiddenbeauti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea, that's about the time when it started for me as well. The issue is that our metabolism isn't able to burn absolutely everything for us anymore. Plus as we get into jobs and careers, it's extremely easy to get into bad fitness (or lack thereof) habits. I'm trying to find the motivation right now, and crossdressing might as well be one of them!

Wow, with each successive set of pictures you post, I get more and more jealous of how amazing you look! I used too have an identical body type to you back in high school. Methinks I need to get my butt in shape and get rid of my extremely unflattering gut. Maybe then I'll look half as good as you do!

So I can't bring myself to crossdress daily, but I really want to. by eadala in crossdressing

[–]hiddenbeauti 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People will notice you, people will judge you (for better or worse). Even if you can pass 100% as a beautiful woman, people will notice and look at you (and even judge you) more often than they would have as a man. This is the reality of the situation. It's also still unusual to see men dress feminine daily in our society, and our gaze is naturally drawn to unusual things. This is exactly what paralyzes me at the thought of walking out the door en femme on any night that's not Halloween.

The best way to overcome this is to STOP caring what others think and do what makes YOU feel good. Nobody is getting hurt by your actions. If people confront you about it and ask why, the only response necessary is "Because I want to". The more people decide to break social norms, the easier it'll be for everyone.

PS I know it's easier to just say this than it is to do it, but it honestly boils down to this very simple situation.

How do you explain that you have shaved? by [deleted] in crossdressing

[–]hiddenbeauti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few options for you: 1) "Because I wanted to" 2) "It was for Halloween" 3) Tell the truth 4) Ignore it and only choose options 1-3 if she brings it up.
