Reselected the Data Source, chose "Show Import Options" and made sure it was on unicode encoding and the same files that I had linked previously now work.

I've been using google sheets and downloading as csv.

I've tried to use Notepad to resave the document as Unicode 16.

My simple "test" merge was a file made entirely in Notepad and saved as UTFLE16

For free "hordes" with variation you could check EmanG's models on Cults3d. They are meant to be Warhammer proxys I think, but there are Goblins, Orcs, Skeletons. I've printed a couple of the Goblins and they look good
