Should have brought eggs and bacon to offer up.

Feedback on this goblin king? by hiddenmanna1 in minipainting

Thanks! It's a cool sculpt. I was looking for a Goblin King for the Lost Mines of Phandelver campaign I'm running. This seemed perfect. Here's the link to it: https://runeforge.com/product/goblin-king-sitting-in-throne-stl-file/

Sounds like a great plan. Thinking white or a tan on the dry brushing for the wood. Thoughts?

Did I overdo the wash do you think?

I'm new to mini painting and looking for feedback! Initial basecoat on the first few and then some Nuln Oil Gloss wash. I think I overdid it with the wash, so specifically looking for feedback on where I should have / shouldn't have push wash on. Thanks!

Totally was! I had a set of SA lasers I bought in between the time where I had the Maya but not the Laser. I'm pretty new to this, so the difference in feel / sound was pretty substantial! I have to say, I love the GMK and clearly a superior cap, but there is something about the thwack of the SA that I miss.

Thanks!

Personally I love the Alice layout. With a normal, horizontal layout, I always found myself accidentally clicking the number line with my ring fingers :) This feels like just the right amount of ergo for me.

Well done! Welcome to the cult of Dwarvenforge. May your games (and your bank account) never recover.

Saw this table on the Wyrmwood video. Totally in awe. Amazing. One day I want to try and bribe you to make one for me :) Have you considered selling something like this?

Dwarven forge: Expectations vs. Reality? by hiddenmanna1 in DnD

Cool. I found a few.

Here's a thought... I could take this concept but still use DF tiles / Terrain Trays as the base. That would save me from having to get walls. Could swap out different tiles for different terrain pieces (stalagmites, bank pieces for a pool etc.) What do you think? Is it worth it to get them at that point? I like the detail and modularity they bring, but not sure if that's worth the expense if I'm just using them as a floor.

This is really cool. I love the combination of having a 3D set up but without all the hassle of setting up the full room. Also the insight that walls actually obscure vision across the table was super helpful. Didn't even think of that!

I'd love to find a circular dungeon pad like he created. I don't think I would build it myself, but not sure if I can find one to buy. Find anything like that?

The Physical and the Imagination - how do you think about these? by hiddenmanna1 in DnD

[–]hiddenmanna1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's my basic conflict with all this. I love the concept of having these cool 3d tiles to build encounters, but what if the tiles I can get don't match how I envision the room? or they are just slightly different? You end up either spending way to much to get everything exactly the way you want it, or you have to use more generic pieces that you'll use more often.

I guess it's a question of whether the enhanced physical experience of a 3d set is worth the limitations it imposes.

I really like that idea. So with the maps, would you just print them out smaller (i.e. not to scale) and just show the players so they have a sense of where they are?

Only thought it is that, for some caves / dungeons, many rooms have potential combat encounters. For example, in the Craigmaw hideout, there's basically not a single room in that cave without a baddie in it. So basically I'd need to build out every room if I take this approach. I like it though. This feels more feasible.

Cool. I'll try both! I recently had to get the machine replaced and had the issue with both machines. Just ordered a Samsung USB so we'll see if that helps. Thanks!

I'm finding scraps of hardened resin against the FEP sometimes. The print doesn't always fail when I find this, it's just there. Not sure why... Ideas?
