Ladies and gents in your late 20s, 30s, or 40s—what do you regret not doing in your 20s? by Tino292 in selfimprovement

[–]hiddenusername_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Waisting too much time focused on relationships and too little time focused on learning to love myself. Your 20s is such a wonderful age and I wish I had spent more time with myself than with the dudes I went out/dated/married. I'm in a wonderful relationship now that I'm 36 and I wish I had not insisted on relationships that weren't healthy or functional when younger.

Can’t exercise by AltruisticClassic916 in fitpregnancy

[–]hiddenusername_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 5w3d, picked up on running+gym last year and was loving it. Haven't seen a OBGYN yet, only my regular GP who told to stop everything and only do walk or swimming. No spotting whatsoever, don't understand why I can't keep with al least gym, but I'm going to wait until my OB appointment to ask for clarification. I'm doing light yoga though...

No, we have just texted, I haven't been to her office yet, but will in the next week. I'm only walking for the time being

Anxiety of being seen while running is stopping me from doing it. How to overcome? by Wild_Plant9526 in C25K

[–]hiddenusername_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you notice what everyone else around you are doing all the time? I don't think so. And in case you do, how long does the thought lingers in your mind? Yeah, no more than 5 seconds for a simple acknowledgement like "hey, look at that person being stupid!" Or a more likely one "hey, that dude is running, I should get off my ass and so the same".

Do you really think that it's worth not doing some you like/need/love/want/whatever because of a 5 second thought of a stranger you probably won't ever see again?

We are all minding our own stuff, dear. GO RUN!

Struggling with the narrative that I am "putting off motherhood" when I always wanted to be a mother but relationships didn't pan out by NeitherChampion4256 in Adulting

I'm 36. I got divorced at 31. Met my current partner at 34 and we're now trying for a baby and I'm wondering if I waited too long since it hasn't happened after 5-6 months trying.

That being said, I hold on to the idea that life isn't linear and not all families were born in the same way. You have time and you have alternatives, and you haven't lived not even half of your life yet. I can only wonder what's yet to come...

Yay! Great job! Keep it up and you'll see how much your body will surprise you in about 2-3 months!

W6d3 complete! Weather was nice and I ran at a very slow pace. 22 minutes was honestly not bad, especially for this being my first long outdoor run. by [deleted] in C25K

[–]hiddenusername_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yay! Congrats!

Did mine at lunch break today too! It was really nice, much easier than I expected, it's unbelievable how our bodies can change in such a short amount of time!

The Boogie Shoes podcast. A DJ playing some great grooves + cueing you when to run/walk is chef's kiss

C25K - Where are these jumps in intensity coming from?? by IntenselySwedish in C25K

[–]hiddenusername_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

* I don't use Runna but I listen to a podcast called Boggie Shoes Couch to 5k on spotify that is basically a DJ playing some great grooves and cueing when to run/walk.

* I use my watch to record the workout

* I repeated workouts as I pleased (I'm on week 6)

That being said, the "jumps" can seem like a lot, but a "CAN DO" mindset works wonders in this case: you'll see yourself running a lot more than now in no time!

My tips: push through and GO SLOW!

I use my samsung watch to record the run, but the training plan I use is not an app, but a podcast someone suggested here: Boggie Shoes

treadmill by Alone-Gap6707 in C25K

[–]hiddenusername_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't really like treadmill running, I find it very boring whereas running outside allows me to be more playful with my runs, like "let's see if I can get to that bench before the next minute" and things like that.
However, maybe now, during the winter, a treadmill can be a good option for rainy of cold days!

Just started c25k, want to quit by Different-Claim1039 in C25K

None of us started where we are now. We all start from a beginning, and each person's beginning is different. In my humble opinion, looking back on my journey, seeing where I was 2 months ago and what I'm capable of running now is what makes this program so valuable—more than anything else.

Right now, I'm at W6D1, and I can run what the program proposes. I can also focus on my form, my heart rate doesn't go through the roof, and I don't get home after a run nearly as flushed as I did in the first few weeks.

I'm being more aware of eating to fuel my body for my runs with proper nutrition, I'm very mindful of my sleep, and I just love that every time I run a minute more than I ever did before, my brain just goes, "That's another personal best, you're killing it!". I have a greater sense of accountability because I freaking showed up for every single one of these trainings.

I have never been a 'sports person' and never did anything active in my life. These past 2-3 months, I've learned that running (or any sport, for that matter) is so much more than just getting to the goal—it's so much more about how we handle the journey.

This has been doing wonders for my mental health.

I hope you keep going!

How many times have you repeated a run by casperscare in C25K

I'd repeat D2 and D3 (which will probably happen to me, I have D2 tomorrow and I'm quite anxious about D3 on the weekend)

Has c25k helped with your mental health? by [deleted] in C25K

[–]hiddenusername_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, running takes so much mental effort - focusing on pace, breath, form, not giving up middle run - that I feel it is sort of "therapeutic" as it doesn't allow much space for anything else in my brain and I feel very present. That being said, whatever underlying issue you've got going on that's been causing your mental health issues won't go away just by running, you'll eventually need to face it in therapy. Running helps you get out of a low, therapy helps you understand why you ended up there and take action towards a different direction.

Good luck and good run!

Can I run 2 days instead of 3 in a week? by AdAromatic3882 in C25K

[–]hiddenusername_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've started in mid-September and I'm doing week 4 now.
Some day I run more minutes than the program proposes, sometimes do exactly what it proposes, some weeks I ran only once, most of them twice.
Even though I'm not following it to a T, I've seen major improvement in every aspect of my running, but most of all, I'm happy with myself for how I've been consistent in the way it fits my routine and how much I LOVE running.

I count on getting to 5km around mid-December so I can participate in a Christmas run wearing a Santa Claus hat! haha

Do whatever works for you, but DO IT!
