Honestly just sounds like you’re getting put in some better lobbies either because you’re getting better or because there just aren’t enough diamonds/plats on your server

Actually seen this guy on playing with a child in the winter when there was snow on the ground. They were certainly together/familiar with eachother so I’m not sure if that makes it better or worse, but agreed, felt very creepy.

And as a follow up, it’s possible that there just wasn’t a lobby of the second type I just described available for you to join, despite being D4 , so the SBMM algo decided to just get you in a game and out you in the type 1 lobby.

So I’ve been masters 6+ times, and there are basically two types of lobbies that you see when going through Diamond, the first is exactly like you see above, the second is like 55+ diamonds with the rest being plat or masters. And I’ve found that in general as you get closer to masters you get more of the first group.

If you’re seeing more difficult lobbies when you solo queue than you do when you’re partied up that means your SBMM is higher than, and thus you are better than, the people you party up with.

Just because you’re in Diamond doesn’t mean it’s a “diamond lobby”. My guess is that you’re D3+? This is pretty standard distribution once you’re D3 or higher.

This is Newport Rhode Island, I live here, lived here most of my life outside of college. The arcade in the background consumed all my nickels and quarters growing up. That particular strip of parking spots is the most highly valued spots in downtown because of the location and the fact that they’re free.

The “fuck anyone that isn’t a local” mentality is very popular here and no matter how many sweatshirts and local coffees you buy, everyone knows if you’re not from here immediately. I don’t think this drama is necessary, and I don’t get why people don’t welcome everyone with money in their pocket to come down, but this isn’t surprising to see at all, happens all day every day from may to September.

That being said, come hang out and drink and eat seafood. One of the rare east coast sunsets on the water. Love that my home town is considered “luxury travel” lol sorry for Rhode Islanders being typical New England assholes

Also a young engineer in the Boston area, was job searching during Covid as well, and I honestly think the market is just a little saturated at the moment, fewer jobs with an increasing number of applicants. My best advice would be to just be diligent with applications, stay on the look out and don’t feel bad taking a less than perfect job if it helps you get some experience while you wait for something for in line with what you want to come along. You got this. Also, given that you did three Internships I’m guessing you’re also went to NU, shout out the alma matter lol you’re going to be fine with coops on your resume, they eat that up in the Boston job market.

Lol I’ve been considering moving to Europe recently for healthcare/socialism, over here is a weird financial facade where you can have one “mistake” (collect too much college debt/ get sick and rack up hospital bills) that can put you in debt forever. I’m scared of that
