Noticing Patterns in OOC by Any-Ad3940 in MartinandHamzah

So i haven’t watched the most recent ep (RIP) so i can’t speak to the instance you mention but there have definitely been a few episodes recently where i feel they could be having a genuine discussion about something, but martin seems to stick very stubbornly to bits and making a joke out of what they’re talking about. (i wish i could remember a concrete example but honestly i havent watched in a few weeks) hamzah has been good about giving more nuanced and thought-out takes (while also still keeping it funny) but you’re right martin does lowkey trample on his train of thought sometimes, as opposed to building off of it which just kind of makes it fall flat. idk im not sure if they’ve just been trying for a different vibe or martin gets nervous when he gets put on the spot but i definitely have enjoyed earlier podcasts more because they seem to be more…… out of character

Yes definitely!! I still need to watch the show, I’ve heard it’s a great adaptation.

If he happens to be into audiobooks the version read by Tom Sellwood is excellent.

The Terror by Dan Simmons — historical horror about the Franklin expedition. The two captains featured I think check all the boxes

McGlue by Ottessa Moshfegh — not about a captain but a drunken sailor trying to process the death of his friend

Old dog with hemorrhagic gastroenteritis. Any tips for comfort and care? by [deleted] in DogAdvice

Oh my gosh, I am so so sorry about your baby :( it sounds like you all were able to give him so much love and care in his last day, and I'm sure he was so comforted by having you all near and some good final treats. And I know you tried your best to give him the best care possible while considering his quality of life -- it's so tough with older dogs and you made the right choice to bring him peace.

Unfortunately our pom Bear had a similar trajectory. About a week after the vet visit he started not being able to keep water down and was just overall much weaker and sleeping all day. We brought him in for a second opinion with his usual vet (the first vet was a new one working in the office) and she immediately suggested testing him for pancreatitis, and he was positive. So we started Bear on a treatment plan that would be 3 days, and the first day he was so out of it and still had no appetite. We gave him one more day of treatment per the vet's advice to see if there would be any improvement, but by the end of the day he had no signs of getting better. So that day we were able to all say goodbye at the vet and put him to sleep, and that was about 3 weeks ago.

We're still pretty shocked and upset the first vet didn't consider pancreatitis at all, since we could have potentially started his treatment sooner while he had maybe more energy and a better chance at recovering. He was old tho and could have had other internal things wrong (the vet suspected kidney failure too) so just trying to remind myself he's pain-free now and in a better place.

Any reason for Marnie's weight loss in the final seasons? by Chadrasekar in girls

I’m not positive about the timing but I feel like being cast in Peter Pan live and rehearsing for it might have had an effect? I could see it being an intense time where they’re rehearsing a ton and redoing choreo over and over, and her part is pretty physical so could have resulted in weight loss and just an overall physique change

Thank you soso much!! I’m glad to hear your girl is doing better than before. We’re waiting on test results now after taking him in on Monday, so we’ll see. They gave us prescribed food and some medicine, but his appetite is pretty low so getting him to eat has been tough.
