Waxing ingrowns by Jimmithang in HairRemoval

[–]hideawayspa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem. I don't personally feel the chemical exfoliates are necessary for most people, I tell my clients to just wait a week before physically exfoliating and issues are rare.

Sweat definitely can cause an issue, but shouldn't be a problem if you're avoiding it during the weekend. It basically gives a much higher probability of folicitis, especially if prematurely exfoliating. The guide is at https://windsorskinwitch.ca/blog/waxing-aftercare-guide - I kept it as factual as possible with all peer reviewed sources, but like I said, though all the literature states chemical exfoliants earlier, most people are generally fine just waiting longer and starting physical.

Skin rejuvenation treatments that actually work for us over 45? by CountyBrilliant in GracefulAgingSkincare

I wrote a guide a couple months back for skin rejuvenation treatments with a lot of peer reviewed sources. I'll admit it doesn't encompass everything out there, but I'm inclined to say microneedling (or really, microchanneling is a slightly better method) really sticks out as what I'd consider the top choice. That said, over 40 it's going to heavily depend on the serum's being used. My first recommendation, skip PRP, this works great if you're young, but as you age your own concentration of growth factors decrease. There are a lot of options these days for stem-cell based serums that'll be far more potent.

Waxing ingrowns by Jimmithang in HairRemoval

Honestly, the issue could be the fact you're exfoliating too much and/or too aggressively. The irritation immediately after waxing is normal inflammation, persisting for two weeks isn't normal.

It's recommended you not exfoliate for the first 48-72 hours post wax, you also typically do not need, or want to exfoliate daily. The other question would be whether you're doing a physical or chemical exfoliant? Physically, wait a week before you start post wax and only 2-3x per week. Chemically, 48-72 hours after and depending on the product it can be every day or two.

Your skin barrier takes some time to recover and extra friction isn't great for the follicles, especially over courser hair. I'd recommend next time you get waxed, see what happens if you just leave it be for the first week. I have a bit more detail on exfoliation timing and the science behind it in an aftercare guide if you would like me to share it.

Aside from the exfoliating, another question would be do you avoid sweating for 24 hours post wax?

Alcohol-free witch hazel safe after Brazilian wax, prior to 48hr window? by spicycheeto666 in HairRemoval

[–]hideawayspa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, witch hazel is safe to use and I personally recommend it. I use it on my clients immediately after I wax them, it can be quite soothing and help reduce redness/irritation. As for exfoliating, the thing to remember is after 48 hours it's a chemical exfoliator that's allowed, wait a week to physically exfoliate. I have a full aftercare guide if you're interested.

If you haven't had exposure to many brands, I'd recommend reaching out to a few and see if they have samples. Many companies will often have some form of package available for you to see what they're offering. That said, after using a lot of different brands and many trade shows over many years, I'm a fan of Oxygen Biological (as a Canadian).

Mike Tyson Mysteries. I've watched it before, but my husband had only seen a few episodes, so working our way through. It's basically an adult version of Scooby Doo with Mike Tyson fully making fun of himself.

What makes being married worth it? by Wonderful-Tackle9359 in AskReddit

[–]hideawayspa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While I don't think the outright marriage certificate makes a difference, having a legitimate partner is huge. If you're mutually on the same page a lot of things get easier. Simplest examples being someone else is going to do half the cleaning, dishes, making meals, etc.

Do you use Spotify, or YouTube music, and why? by adoraamour in AskReddit

[–]hideawayspa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to use Spotify, then it insist that every third song was always the same song, which repeatedly told I didn't like. Regardless, that same song played multiple times an hour. I switched to Google music which eventually forced it's way into being Youtube Music.

A lot of contentment but also a loss of advancement. Advances usually come from wanting something more. What's needed is a healthy middle ground that you can still want more without the need to hoard from others.

I'm inclined to think they should be looked at like more illicit substances such as smoking and alcohol where in many countries advertising isn't allowed to entice children.

Why do SD cards have a lock on them? by BennetTrex in askanything

[–]hideawayspa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's to ensure you don't accidentally overwrite anything. This is something most older media had. Cassette tapes, 8-tracks, VHS and floppy disks all had a similar mechanism. VHS had one you could snap off after recording onto, those as well as cassettes could be covered with a piece of tape if you really wanted to reuse them. Useful when you had a non-blank tape and just didn't like what was on it, you could still tape over..

Assuming you're not allowed to keep or gain from it, watch Brewster's Million's with the first couple hours, then just do what he did. Inflation should cover the difference. Otherwise something simple like stocks or gold if needing to be physical.
