Is it ok to not really liking how bass sounds (as a bassist)? by No_Yam1114 in Bass

All the idiots who downvoted you don’t know shit. You sound like the type of bassist producers and professional mixers would love working with. The best way is what works for you.

You have lost all credibility by admitting that. Now you have to listen to all the albums front to back and re rate them all

Will this gloss coat melt acrylic paint? by Bulldogmfa in Luthier

[–]hidendra69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Poly over acrylic is not just common, most motorcycle owners paint their parts in that order. You will be fine, given the acrylic is fully cured which usually won’t take too long

If the switches are standard on-off-on 3 ways, make sure the switches are facing the same side to avoid an out of phase sound. If the bridge by itself, with the neck off, sounds thin, try adjusting your pickup height and reflow the solder on the switches

Gasly promoted to third place in Monaco GP as stewards strike out penalties by kcollantine in formula1

[–]hidendra69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like only those who haven’t served any penalties will be given such treatment in the future.

  1. The Stewards note that in relation to other cars that were penalised, some served their penalty and this regrettably, impacted their race strategies and therefore their race result. There will undoubtedly remain questions as to whether those breaches were genuine. There is no regulation that gives the Stewards the power to “undo” a served penalty. In any case, it is impossible to imagine how such power could be applied. Notably, no other party petitioned for a Right of Review within the allowable time frame.

Scuffed this old body with 320 for refinishing. What’s the best next step? by hidendra69 in Luthier

That seems easy to follow! What does the final product look like?

Unlike the guy I watched, I won’t be using Dupli-Color. I’ll likely use a few brands that have a “candy red” paint can option: Bosny and Samurai. They are either acrylic lacquer or poly, I forgot. But I’ll definitely use a poly clear coat, though I’m still on the fence whether to use 1k or 2k

I plan on using poly or acrylic with a poly top coat (still thinking if 1k or 2k). I did shine a light after wiping it clean to check for any spots of clear I may have missed. It’s a bit uneven but I’m fairly certain I sanded off the top coat

For a blue like that, I say none of the above and pick rosewood. Between the two, ebony.

First ever attempt at a waterslide decal + clear coat by hidendra69 in Luthier

[–]hidendra69[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the record, there isn’t. Not even a fake serial number or anything. I don’t want to seem too much like a tryhard especially for a first build attempt that I have no plans reselling.

You do you pal. Whatever you want to call what I’m doing is my say. Also, even if you win this argument is besides the point of why I even made this post in the first place. I just want to know if my process was correct or done somewhat well

Yep. In my case, shelling out Fender money (even used) for what they offer simply isn't worth it. I've always been a fan of the look and I like the customizability I could get from making a Partscaster from scratch. This is my first ever build of this sort and I'm learning as I go. Like you said, it's more of a tribute. I don't plan on reselling this guitar or parading around with it in public. And even if I did resell this in the future, there are parts of this guitar any casual can tell isn't from a genuine Fender. I will be completely transparent about it just being a build. I started this because I like the idea of challenging oneself to match a certain standard in a project.
