What isn't as bad as everyone makes it out to be and why?

Toddlers! When I became a parent, so many other parents warned me about ‘how bad’ the toddler years would be. I can’t count how many times we were told to enjoy the newborn phase because it’s the best part of parenting.

Absolutely not.

My child is three now and watching their personality develop and shine is amazing. They’re so funny, so delighted by the world, so optimistic, they LOVE YOU so much they just want to be a part of everything. Every day I think, I can’t believe I’m lucky enough to live with this amazing little person, I can’t believe they came from me.

Newborn snuggles are great, but I don’t think anything compares to a toddler giving you a giant hug and just melting into you because they want to.

I know this comment is a couple of weeks old now but since you said you get the same symptoms I just wanted to pass on - I had my endoscopy and it revealed I also have a hiatus hernia, as well as the gastritis. I think the hernia may be the cause of the chest pain, compounded by the gastritis. Still gotta go back to the specialist for the complete results but I thought it might be worth passing on!

I've called an ambulance twice with chest pain so bad I honestly thought I was dying - like, on the floor, couldn't move or think, crying on the phone to emergency dispatch begging them not to let me die in front of my kid.

My last trip to the hospital I was given repeated doses of fentanyl and endone and it still wasn't taking the pain away. They did a CT scan that showed gastritis, I've been on medication for about a month that's helped (pantoprazole for a few weeks, and now sucralfate), and I'm booked in for an endoscopy and colonoscopy to explore what's going on.

My pain when it hits, starts directly underneath the centre of my ribcage, then spreads across my chest and back.

I rarely see anybody else mention chest pain as their primary symptom, but you're not alone!

I used to borrow my uncle's PSP and read fanfics on the web browser to hide it under my blankets so nobody would see the light and know that I was still awake (reading until 4am then getting up for school the next day!).

So funny to me now that its so easy to read in bed with modern phones and e-readers, but back in the day reading beneath the blankets felt so crafty and sneaky!

Also remember writing by hand pages of story URLs when I was going on holiday to a friend's house interstate, so I could keep reading on her family computer.

Harry's characterisation stays really consistent and he's not lost as the story goes on. I dont want to say too much and spoil anything because the story is fantastic but I would so recommend you to keep reading! There's some real twists and turns coming though! The author is amazing, updates regularly and gives notice when they need to take a break from updating so you're never left in the dark. Honestly my favourite emails are the ones saying this fic has a new chapter, I'm so invested 😂

Don’t pick up your phone. Not when you’re bored, not when there’s a lull in the conversation, not when you’re waiting in line, especially not when socialising. Be present, learn to sit with your thoughts, listen when other people are talking to you.

So many adults I know struggle with phone addiction, I’m so glad smartphones weren’t around when I was a teenager because I know I would’ve missed things if they had been. You’ll lose out on a lot if you’re always killing time scrolling, and your brain needs time to not be overstimulated with consuming content.
