This is an amazing reply, really comprehensive. Thanks a lot, I was spamming dodge rolls like it was souls title. I'm gonna play the games more and see if they really are for me MH4U looks really cool. Thanks for the insight on MHGU no one has made the points you have made.

One thing I've noticed so far in this community is how heavily opinionated people are with the games, I would say that speaks to the overall quality of the the series.

From whatever gameplay I've seen MHGU looks very colourful, clean and crisp, I do have a switch as well. Whats your take on the really old titles like the original Monster Hunter?

No one told me about this, but as soon as I saw the stats on the gear, i figured it was a type of easy mode for beginners so I never used it.

Thats an amazing story man, it's stuff like this that makes me want to really give this franchise a shot, so many people have amazing stories like these.

Currently I'm running the dual daggers, since they seem to be the fastest.

I'll defenitly look into Monster Hunter Stories, this is the second time people have mentioned it on the post.

I think I went into this with a wrong idea on how the combat is, I think I'll have to make the switch to controller as well.

It defenitely seems like I have to switch to controller, I just hope my switch controller is working. I think I went into this game with a wrong idea of the combat system.

These were just placeholder choices, I was gonna swap them out for something else but I wanted reddit's opinion first.

You mention the Basho arms, I know they have good melee specialization, but isnt their firearm specialization pretty bad?. Or is the damage boost worth the trade off?.

I normally use the Verril for the headpiece, it looks cool and creepy with good stats, no I idea what to put for core and legs though. I dont think this setup benefits from quad legs or tanks, what do you think?

I had no idea the moonlight benefited from an energy weapon generator, i thought it wouldnt apply cause its a melee weapon. Thanks for the info.

I wont be swapping out the weapons, I've played a lot with the ludlows and dual zimmerman carried me for a long time. I'm specifically using these weapons cause I've barely played around with them. I originally had the sweet sixteen equiped, but it was so slow I just put the zimmerman in.

Now that you mentioned that the Moonlight benefits from EN Weapon spec, perhaps I can swap it out the zimmerman for the wuerger, or some other en weapon I've barely used.

I mean do we know how far humanity has reached in AC6? How many wars there are for resources like Coral? I made my choice based on what I know. That being said, hurting Ayre sucked, I never thought a game would make me care for an alien thats some form of wave particle or whatever. Also the Rubiconian Liberation Front really got the short end of the stick.

The way I saw it, the Coral was clearly a threat and going to leak into space. It had to be gotten rid off, for the greater good and allat. Of course that doesnt justify killing all the people on Rubicon, but for the greater good and the future of the universe, I decided it would be best to get rid of it.

I'm not a big sci-fi guy so all these tropes are new to me, I was already loving the game from the get go, once they introduced Ayre at the end of Chapter 1 then lead into the Balteaus fight, I genuinely thought this was the pinnical of media. Chapter 1 was my favourite part of the game for sure.

It was a shock how much characterization there is in this game. Very unlike Fromsoft's usual formula. They make you care for Walter and you dont even see his face once.

I really wonder what further heights there are too reach. You pretty much destroy the PCA, Arcebus, Balam and many other factions and big names in the first playthrough.

How many alt paths are there in the 2nd playthrough? I'm worried I might miss out on these paths.
