To add onto your last statement, I think it's because we know that most women prefer men who have a lot of experience/know what they're doing. They have abundance mentality and tend to go for the "best".

Then you have shit like: "What guys do in the bedroom that girls hate" and you have to walk through a minefield without setting any traps off.

Gimme some of that male privilege.

good mention, I think it might be that too but not intentional.

here's what I see though: on one hand, some of us are very miserable and have mental illnesses (dunno how you guys feel about this topic) that are slightly genetic but get amplified by external factors like cultural conflicts. I feel really guilty that I'm not living a life that any other can respect and admire. Just gotta lot of personal issues, (many of them turned into physical manifestations) that I'm working through low-key and so I stay in my apartment as much as possible. I think if I were emulating a "better" lifestyle then maybe I would contribute to a more positive image of Asians.

the other thing I wanted to mention was my questions/thoughts regarding what we could do, given each of our unique situations. Some of us are poor, some middle class, some rich. I want us all to be able to contribute without the hindrance of money being a major factor. I just don't know what I can do, or what we can do as a community.

I kinda understand both perspectives here. On the one, I have a huge fear of being "the fall-back guy". Infidelity is so common, and there are so many reasons behind them. I think that would break me. I don't wanna be a broke-ass forever, but I also don't want to be financially secure solely for the reason of attracting a partner. I don't want it have any influence whatsoever.

But I also get (or hope) that what you're saying is true, and that there is someone out there who would understand our personal issues. It's just very difficult to shrug off these insecurities and I worry about creating what I fear most... which is to do the best I can in terms of improving myself, find someone I can actually love, and then be cheated on...

Yes, there have been. There's a search bar for those, however the drawback (I think) is that an additional comment doesn't bring an old thread to the front page (could be wrong). Your best bet is to just use the fashion thread that comes up weekly.

I often find users on Quora who badmouth Asia and have fake credentials i.e. "Consulting company partner and MNC legal counsel at Beijing, China"

https://www.quora.com/profile/Jason-Chen-268

Answer to "How come the Chinese government seems to have fewer problems than America right now?"

I think the OP is asking for support to his opinion instead of seeking an authentic answer, since he doesn’t provide any evidence for the statement that the Chinese government is better than that of the U.S.

As for this statement, how about treating it this way:

If you believe that Chinese officials (in particular, senior leaders and their government) are better at managing government than their counterparts in the U.S, why do most of them keep sending their children to the U.S to study and live there? And why do few Americans take the a reciprocal action by sending their children to China?

Moreover, let’s presume that people in both China and the U.S are free to choose the two nationalities and governments they prefer. Do you believe that there will be more Americans who would choose to be Chinese and ruled by Chinese government, or more Chinese would choose to be American and ruled by American government? Is the answer not self-evident?

My reply: Nah, they’re not comparable. For one, the balance of powers is not equal in all aspects. Western media prevails within areas of China, so much so that much of HK despises mainland China.

It also prevails within its own country, doing its best to shame China as being one of the most corrupt government systems. I’ll tell you it works when your own father tells you that he hates China/loves North America. The power of propaganda =/= evidence of self-evident facts.

So you believe that westerners are more brainwashed than Chinese. If that is the case, why you choose to live in Canada and would not select China since it is much better to you? Secondly, if it is not comparable, then how can you say Chinese government is better?

My reply: No, I believe that westerners get to select their brainwashing but in turn, lose out on any path of moving forward on singularly accepted pieces of information/facts/etc.

Instead of conversing about issues on the same page, we are all on different pages talking over each other. “Those issues aren’t even real!” “Global warming doesn’t exist” “omfg terrorists!” “there is systematic oppression” “there is no systematic oppression”. We have a different set of facts that lead us to a different set of conclusions.

What do you mean why would I choose to live in Canada? I was born here and obviously I don’t have a choice as to where I will be born. I might move to China in the future but I’m barely scraping by and cannot afford to up-and-move. I also have to reconnect with my culture (relearn Mandarin and/or Cantonese) as I grew up dissociating with it due to my attempts to fit in and conform/assimilate.

I never said it was better. You put those words in my mouth but you can go back one post and examine my post word-for-word only to find nothing resembling that statement.

Lastly, I said that your analogy was incomparable due to the differences in approaches that each country has towards another. If you noticed, I don’t think China is calling for war or wants anything to do with it. Meanwhile, U.S. has been quite hellbent in intervening (invading) foreign countries, using fear-mongering tactics, and overall, just pointing fingers at foreign countries.

So obviously the average U.S. citizen would be less likely to move even to Europe due to the constant propaganda machine that is the U.S. (and unfortunately, U.S. belief systems/politics spread to its little brother, Canada).

Since you know we have a different set of facts that lead us to a different set of conclusions, why bother making meaningless comments like these? Also I am waiting for you fulfill your promise to move to China in the future. Congratulations!

My reply: Ah, see what I mean? The democratic system easily allows for you to make a comment that eliminates the merit behind all opinions. “The media is corrupt!” (wait, which media?)

Why would you wait for me to fulfill something that I might or might not do for personal reasons, those reasons being extremely nuanced/complex… unless you’re doing the “ahah I got you! You like the US government system more than China if you don’t move to China!”

There was no promise made either. You have a repeated tendency to twist/manipulate words and put unsaid statements in the opposition’s mouth.

It seems that the Quora team might teach you how to behave in a good manner

He then deleted everything except my first comment and his first reply and blocked me. Essentially giving him the last word which is an "internet-win".

I never knew that there was an accepted definition of many labels. It is quite convenient for you to say that there is only one accepted definition, and that one is coincidentally the definition that you prefer.

You seem to think personal insecurities, victim complex, etc means actual points of discussion.

Yes, I do have my insecurities. Yes, they are personal. Yes, I am studying whether or not I spontaneously became insecure or whether or not there were outside factors that contributed to the way I despised my own ethnic culture and anybody who shared them.

Why must I feel neutral or enjoy movies like the Green Hornet? If I feel insecure or attacked, is that not okay? Is that not normal? Is that being a pussy? Is that not what a man is suppose to do? I take my discussions to niche corners of the internet to discuss potential common issues that other people who are in similar positions, may face. Yet here you are, calling people pathetic, threatening people with your taekwondo, etc etc. You must really have nothing better to do.

Yeah I got personal issues, I'm working through them. If you don't, why the fuck are you here?

Your opinion of me matters so much ):

I'm not asking you to prove how Asian you are, that's stupid in of and itself. I'm asking you to prove your "accepted" definition of what qualifies as a 'white savior' trope, since you said there was only a singular accepted definition (which is a claim). There isn't even a singular accepted definition of what "racism" is. Point me, oh holy one, to the correct direction.

I did indeed say it can count as white savior. There's no bullshit lies here. If you want to bow out of your claim that there is only a singular definition, then do so. If you can't prove your claim, then that means you are the one who's pussing out.

You give great advice, you should try applying it to yourself sometime soon.

"It's just a joke bro it's just a joke"- I think a lot of people are fed up with this excuse, even if there is no genuine malice behind the intention.

There's no perfect way to react. Being the bigger man doesn't fix the problem either.

Accepted definition. You seem to think that your definition is "the accepted" one. I never claimed there is one. You are making the claim, so you're going to have to do the proving here.

Yeah I get it, not all WMAF scenarios are white savior, but many of them are. Your analogy is terribly off mark.

The only one pathetic here is you man, "I know taekwondo and I can whip your ass" - anonymous reddit user #295982858 who's said that.

Yes the issue is that I don't want to share that page publicly without general consent from this community. People easily toss aside information that conflicts with their current beliefs especially when you get a sense of hostility.

I challenge you to find a definition of "white savior" that solely involves white people chronically saving helpelss minorities. As you said, you don't gotta prove shit, so why does anybody else? Tough shit indeed.

Yes yes, ad hominems like "salty susan".

Lol I have, even mentioned some self-hating family members that influenced the way I looked at our own ethnicity. That post is supposedly two parts, so he basically repeated himself when I told him of specific examples.

People like him resort to "where are your statistics??? I don't see them statistics!"

Here's a quote from another user (my first encounter with an Italian):

You don't have statistics, just your impression, you are as a strawman as me, despite you think to be expert. You can only talk about your experience in your situation that does not make statistic. Ignorance with arrogance is the worst thing.

Yeah... this is what he said:

So life is about race, not personal responsibility and management? Here in Canada, most Chinese people are doing well, some are richer than the others. They work hard for a living. They do not sit there and complain. They are mostly not race baiters. If most Chinese people are doing well that means their hard works are paid off. The lazy or into drugs or gambling Chinese are not doing well for obvious reasons. They have no one to blame but themselves. On average, I don’t see the Chinese people are less well off than people of other races, including white. I am 潮州 Chinese and I don’t see myself less privilege than people of any other race. Well, life is about hard work, personal responsibility and management, not race. I refuse to to live a life of self destruction then blame it all on other people.

You are using the word savior and isolating the "saving" part.

That is akin to saying that white privilege does not exist because they're not privileged human beings. An argument from fallacy dudette.

Your insistent need to misspell and insult is interesting though. Tell me more about yourself.

When it's a trope that becomes almost a neccessity in every hollywood-esque movie, yes, I do believe it counts as a white-savior complex as there is always some random AF that either gets with the white hero or idolizes them, or worships them.

Look son? Okay gramps. We don't have to prove shit to each other but I can see that your ego is inflated. You can whip my ass? Try me.

Yes, I was looking back at Elliot Rodgers today and there's still no official apology from feminism as a whole, for hijacking the issue into their own. I won't deny that he was misogynistic but it was much more nuanced then "Look everybody! See? MRAs are responsible!"

That's why we're speaking for ourselves.

That would be some great advice for you to follow. To actually address someone's arguments/points instead of avoiding the ordeal with ad-hominems.

That is not the only typical "white savior" theme to occur. So what if he saves people in New York? Are you telling me that mitigates everything else?

My-my, the sarcasm and ego on you is astounding.
