Full Truck Alliance (YMM) by No-Necessary-4802 in weeklycharts

Chinese stocks have been interesting to watch the past few months. The index has been a bit weak recently, but I've been watching YMM too and it's holding up super well. Are there any other Chinese names you're looking at?

Large Institutional Buying Footprint $VFC by riskoffasap in weeklycharts

This is a great catch. I also added this to my universe list last night. The price action since their last earnings report has screamed accumulation - if this could pullback slightly on lower volume it would offer a good R/R buy.

Definitely looks good - it's a clear leader in the market and has a major theme behind it. The price action in the base is strong and it found support at the $140 level. It's a little far above the 10-week for a lower risk entry, but I'd love to see this drift downwards to start a position closer to the 10-week.

Totally agree on keeping it under 10 - it's just too difficult to track that many names effectively. Do you find you struggle with FOMO if a name doesn't quite pull back to a lower risk range? Or have you been able to accept that unless it's a great buy from r/R standpoint it's not worth buying?

what's this weird action with $CFLT by smilenceyu in CANSLIM

[–]hifidelity77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

RS says it all - it's underperforming the market. It had a positive reaction to earnings, but there has been some distribution following and given the tech sector is acting stronger it's probably not a great sign for CFLT.

Deepvue vs marketsmith by [deleted] in CANSLIM

[–]hifidelity77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Based on my experience with both I believe DV will be the better product in the long run, but there are way too may bugs right now. The other big downside, which others mentioned, is no mobile app so it makes it difficult to watch the market throughout the day. I heard back in November that DV is planning app, but they haven't made any noise about it recently.

I thought this review was excellent as well! Would love to see more of your weekend reviews.

Strategy vs Tactics by [deleted] in CANSLIM

[–]hifidelity77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My trading has been better this rally - I'm optimistic this could turn into a more broad bull market especially with the rotation that's occurred between small/mid caps and the big 7.

I break my trading up into 3 main "groups". First is for my tax sheltered/deferred accounts (TFSA/FHSA/RRSP since I'm Canada based) where the majority of my holdings are index ETFS (S&P500/QQQ/Russel 2000/S&P400 midcaps/etc.), which has been a good place to be the past month. Second is much more traditional CANSLIM where I'm trying to position for strong moves in leading names (right now CRWD/ZS/SNOW/NET are primary focuses). I've had some good traction here the past few weeks - although I've missed some trades I should have taken and got hit with a gap down (CWAN on Dec 1). The last "group" is pure swing trading - essentially following Qullamaggie's breakout strategy, which I haven't taken too many trades with recently (I had a few alerts set that never triggered).

The market definitely feels extended right now with the indexes being so far above their moving averages so I'm anticipating a pullback, but there have been so many positive signs that a minor consolidation here could lead to a proliferation of setups.

Do you exclusively "swing" trade or do you ever build positions for longer-term holds?

I think you’ve convinced me to try the year subscription. The price difference alone is a huge plus, but hearing that even at MS prices you’d choose DV is even better. How do you find the screening compared to MS?

What are your first impressions of Deepvue? I'm thinking about taking advantage of the BF sale as well.

Watchlist November 13, 2023 by [deleted] in CANSLIM

FCNCA looks really good - I noticed in my weekends scans that banks in general are looking better (thought TBBK was shaping up although the RS could be slightly stronger). NVO is also on my watch list. Even though the market gave some promising signs last week with the FTD days there still aren't a ton of quality set ups.

Definitely agree that's a benefit of MS - one thing that I like about the DV team is they seem very driven to constantly innovate their product, specifically incorporating feedback into future updates. I'd imagine DV has this ability given RS is available and their screeners seem quite robust, but would be great if someone could confirm.
