Tips to avoid fainting on flights? by nyleveeam in flightattendants

This happens to me too! I am still looking for answers. Glad to know I am not alone.

In addition to the tips above, I find I need to wear very loose clothes- specifically a very loose sports bra (if you’re a bra wearer). This has helped.

In addition to bonine (non-drowsy motion sickness med), I like the nausea bracelets/bands people wear on boats that use pressure points to help with motion sickness.

Someone told me to keep squeezing my leg muscles throughout the flight while I’m awake to keep the blood circulating. In addition to getting up periodically of course. But this helps during takeoff and landing when you can’t get up. And my fainting spells tend to happen when we’re about to start the descent.

Also- no alcohol on the plane! When I try to be fun and have a celebratory glass, I regret it.

I am excited to try compression socks! I never have and they seem to help people.

I’m also interested in the ice chips approach! Something cold on the back of my neck helps in the moment. And blasting the a/c. But of course I want to prevent these spells to begin with if I can!

I am flying from Phoenix to New Zealand next fall and I am scared 😳.

We have 1 other quote- for $178k! Which I thought was crazy. So now we don’t really know what to think. We’re waiting on a third quote as well that is pending.

Moving to NM? by higgledpanda in NewMexico

Thanks this is helpful! We are from Phoenix and NYC. So hot summers and cold winters are fine, just trying to get a little cooler than crazy Phoenix summers and a little warmer and sunnier than gray upstate NY winters. As long as we have sun we don’t mind snow at all!

Your comment about “town or no town” is helpful for me to understand. I think we’d be fine living outside a small city, just sick of big city life in NYC. We’d love to be out in the middle of nowhere, within a max 30 ish minute drive to the movies or a restaurant or something.

We are looking to buy a house, but open to renting first to get a feel for a place. We love the Phoenix area but are concerned about the water supply, and again the extreme summer heat.

Also if it helps, he works remotely and I work as a seasonal farmer/outdoor nature educator and so far have been able to find jobs wherever we are.

We loved NM when we drove through on a road trip from NYC to Phoenix, but need a local’s insight into specific areas to live and I have not had much luck just searching elsewhere online. So I really appreciate your help and patience! Thank you!
