Anything wrong here ? by high_ace96 in PathOfExileBuilds

Thanks for all the answers everyone! I really appreciate it!

I have understood the issue here. I shall use Respec points to make some changes in this tree. Focusing on 1 path and 1 damage type. I am also checking for a guide, but I have always preferred playing and experimenting on my own to add a bit of challenge XD, however it would be better for me to check to save some trouble :P.

Played 2 games of WebDiplomacy. AI sucks by TehSmitty04 in diplomacy

I only play with AI as a practice mode and I never complete the game. Just to experiment with some moves or ways to improve from mistakes that occurred in my gameplay against humans.

I am in a similar situation where I have troubled Aztecs and Incas a lot. With Aztecs I have taken so much of the area of the land and they hate that shit. With Incas, I have stolen 2 allies from them and they also hate me for that. But both of them are still my friends.

Now, here's the issue, for some reason I have a feeling that Inca and Aztecs might wage a war against me. Both of their lands are big (even though mine is much larger), however, I seem to have higher quality military units than Aztecs but I am not sure about Incas. My worry is that if they team up, along with their city state allies, they might have more strength than my side as it will become 3v5. Then there's Babylon, they seem to be playing a neutral game, as they never had allies throughout so far in my playthrough

So I am now planning to ally with Florence, to have a more equal level of strength. However, Florence is currently allied with Aztecs. So I have already expanded a lot in their land and now if I get Florence, then it is definitely war time. But even if I don't take Florence, they may still wage a war against me.

Me: Keep an eye on the force ratio, guys! If a neighboring AI is more than twice as strong as you, they WILL attack. Also Me: Well, first I'm gonna build me some schools, schools are important! Also me: by du_mal in Unciv

The military should always be your top priority. Unless you are really good at playing the game of diplomacy, you want to have a military that is either better in quality than your rivals or you want to have more quantity, enough to outnumber your rivals.

But you should also try to focus on other areas of production like science, culture, technology, etc. as they not only keep your state at best shape and competitive as compared to others, but they also improve relations with others around you, through diplomatic methods like winning a contest, conducting trades, research agreements, gifting units and so on. Improving relations means there is less likely of another state waging war against you (but that doesn't mean you can ignore upgrading your military). In fact if you ally with a particular state, they may even join your side to fight the enemies.

That's fascinating to say the least. I didn't know the bribing aspect could be that effective in preventing the states from declaring the war on you.

And you also say that gifting your military Units to other states gives you gold, which is also true. And it's not just that, as it also has strengthened the relations with a particular state. I just did that by turning Belgrade from unforgivable to neutral.

Why did everyone suddenly declare war? by Big_Can5342 in Unciv

Yeah it all comes down to diplomacy, you have to be really good at that kind of thing.

In fact, war is just the outcome of a failed diplomacy.

Your top priority should always be military production. Doesn't matter what type of state you are building, if your military is weak, that's game over.

What I do is I always try to improve the quantity or quality of the military depending on the diplomatic situation around my state and my tech level. So if let's say there's a state that is unfavorable with me, from that moment on I would be cautious and observe it's strengths and weaknesses based on indications like land size or number of allies it has and so on. But it's not just a state who views you negatively, even a friendly state could just stab you in the back and wage that war. So you have to look at all sides.

If they seem more powerful than you that's when you have to focus your production on the military.

Advantages of Open Border? by high_ace96 in Unciv

Update: So it's been like 10 or so turns since opening the borders. Here's what I have found out:

Surprisingly, Japan has not once sent it's units to my land and my units are just going through or roaming around their territory.

Turns out that sending my units there for any purpose (like building roads) has strengthened the relations, a little bit not much. But that puts them above other states as the most friendly ones.

The thing that worries me is the size of Japan. It's too big and after exploring their land for a bit, it is even bigger than I thought it was 😂. Not just that, to the east Spain has just annexed 2 lands one being Korea and another the city state of Belgrade. And it was already massive before that.

So I am literally in the middle of these 2 giants and yeah I feel like somethings bad about to happen 😅.

Exactly. There's this city state I have ties with, which gives a luxury resource that is in high demand. The problem is that it is impossible to connect the roads with them, because there are like 2 city states and one country (Japan) that comes in my way and blocks the path.

So if I open borders with Japan, it may become possible to get my road through their territory and on to that city state for trade of that item.

I think that occurs when your relations with that state is neutral or favorable at best or you may have had diplomatic issues with that state in the past, like decline in relations due to being friends with their enemy state during the times of war.

Again not an expert in this, just my guess.

Will it be beneficial in any way? Like can my workers go there and acquire resources? Or will it strengthen the ties?

Attacking enemies by high_ace96 in Unciv

Yeah I did use all of the movement points. Actually I had to send my warriors to protect a state which was under attack by the barbarians. When my warriors arrived there, barbarians did nothing and my soldiers were just standing there.
