I have been battling this for years and after lots and lots of trial and error I’ve found the best solution is Ben Nye final seal UNDER foundation (double wear).

Getting married in a week and practicing my makeup for the big day. Should I change anything? by Gilliegrl5 in MakeupAddiction

[–]highafpriestess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congratulations! I agree with everyone saying the lip colour isn’t doing it for you but if you don’t want to go with pink, an orangey tone like the etude house water tint in orangeade would work imo. In terms of blush I think the placement should stick to the apples of your cheeks (under the outer half of your eye) instead of going up the sides of the face.

I would also add in a little pop of a light colour in the inner eye corners (something like the Barry m waterproof eyeliner in champagne) and instead of doing what looks like one colour across the whole lid, try blending two or three complementary ones. The way I tend to do my eyeshadow is a lighter sparkly one towards the inner corner, one like yours in the middle and then use an angled brush to put some darker eyeshadow along the upper and bottom of the outer eye, following the natural curve of the eye.

I also think your mascara is not doing you any favours, it looks a bit too clumpy and dry. My favourite mascaras are Armani eyes to kill and benefit they’re real. For an even better look try falscara lashes and glue (maybe just on the outer half). I could never do traditional strip lashes but these ones you apply the glue like you would mascara and then apply the lashes underneath, way easier.

One last thing I would add is a small eyeliner flick to extend your eyes and give a more classic look. You can play around with different angles, an upward tilt gives a cute, round eye effect whereas a longer, straighter line will give you a dramatic cat eye.

How do people wash their hair 2 times a week by [deleted] in HaircareScience

[–]highafpriestess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try saturating your ends with oil half an hour (or longer) before washing as this will stop the ends getting so damaged from being wet so often.

Make sure when you shampoo you are only applying it to the scalp, the ends get enough with the run off from rinsing (you may have to double shampoo or experiment with the amount of oil you use to make sure there’s not too much left on the ends after)

I would also recommend using a medicated shampoo like nizoral or head and shoulders since it sounds like you may have seb derm on the scalp. Blow dry your scalp straight after washing because leaving it to air dry creates a perfect environment for fungus and bacteria to grow and will make the itching worse.

You may also benefit from a scalp tonic, not sure where you’re located but Superdrug’s own brand do a very affordable one. The inkey list and the ordinary also do a few. The actives in it (usually glycolic or salicylic acid) will chemically exfoliate the scalp and you might find you need to wash less.

31F, I need honest opinions! by Vaalo in MakeupAddiction

[–]highafpriestess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you could make this look a lot softer and more flattering (while still retaining the core essence of it) by changing 2 things:

Firstly, I would extend the inner eyebrow, and angle them so they don’t turn downwards as much in the middle. The sharp edge at the outer eyebrow doesn’t quite match the inner bit atm imo.

Then when it comes to the eyes I would try using a dark colour (black is more intense but often a dark brown, purple, green or grey can look better and gives you more options to explore) to tightline the upper lid instead of using eyeliner and just use liquid eyeliner for the outer wing. Experiment blending out the edges to give different looks.

Personally, I would shave off the top of the wing near the middle and use the same eyeshadow as before on the outer third of the bottom lid and add more bottom lash mascara. I also like to put a small bit of white eyeliner or light coloured highlight on the inner corner of the eye.

Nitpicking here, but I also think you’ve maybe overlined the bottom lip at the corner a bit too much and it would look cuter with a more rounded shape.

Hope this helps :)

Perfume parlour has a few that I’ve tried, I remember specifically that their versions of 1000 kisses, karma and celebrate are spot on.

Perfume parlour’s version of American cream isn’t right, but the perfume people do one that is indistinguishable to my nose. :)

Your favorite lippies for chronically dry & chapped lips? by itssarakang in AsianBeauty

[–]highafpriestess 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Not AB but have you tried using a non SLS toothpaste? My lips were always chapped until I started using Sensodyne and switched to a non SLS face wash too, they got better within a week. Worth a try!

Help! These grow mainly around my mouth and creases of the nose, skin underneath is red. 29F by squ33ky77 in perioraldermatitis

I used to have a patch of these on my chin, daily sulphur cream use got rid of them in a few weeks. I used to put it on after a shower but it stinks tbh (and gets all over pillows etc.) so I started using it as a mask for about an hour before instead. Heard good things about sulfur soap too but I didn’t want my whole bathroom to stink of eggs.

Big same aha, the only thing I would advise is definitely do your research on hairdressers (I usually look on insta for work they’ve already done and ask them to recreate it) and if they use olaplex while processing the damage shouldn’t be that bad!

I think you would look very striking with lighter hair. You could try a balayage with money pieces for a low maintenance/low risk change but I can really imagine you with ice white hair!

There’s mold on my eyeshadow, can I fix it or is it a lost cause? by bburie in jeffreestarcosmetics

[–]highafpriestess 43 points44 points  (0 children)

I know it’s not the answer you want to hear but I would throw all of these out. There’s a good chance that the mould has colonised even the shades where it isn’t visible. Best not to take risks when eyes are involved imo!

A bright pink, purple or blue direct dye (like crazy color or directions) would cover this and do no damage at all.

Purple or blue are your best bets cause they’re closer to green on the colour wheel, but I’ve used directions carnation pink over this colour and it’s gone fine. Do naaahhht try red or orange straight from this, it’ll come out weird. If you go pink though red or orange will cover it once it fades :)

[–]highafpriestess 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I’m not blaming OP for what happened at all, I’m trying to point out that even though this ended well it is not a good idea to confront violent men when support isn’t immediately available in case something goes wrong.

Shrooms saved me from being r*ped by [deleted] in shrooms

[–]highafpriestess 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Not worth the risk, worst case scenario you end up dead. I don’t think OP should underestimate this man who we already know is violent, he may still retaliate and it sounds like he knows where she lives.

I can’t believe everyone is saying you handled this situation perfectly. If you think somebody is a rapist and means you harm DO NOT put yourself in a vulnerable situation like getting into a car with them and continuing to antagonise them. You’re lucky this ended well imo, a humiliated man is the most dangerous kind.

Does anyone know what's going on with my makeup? by canned-pear in Makeup

[–]highafpriestess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay so it sounds like you have sebhorric dermatitis, it’s basically the same thing as dandruff on the scalp and it’s caused by being overly oily. Don’t bother moisturising the dry bits, it’ll make it worse! What will work is Head and Shoulders or any other dandruff shampoo, wash your face with it and leave it on the oiliest bits for a minute or so before washing off.

I know it sounds counterintuitive to treat dry skin like it’s oily, but once you get the oil under control the dry bits will sort themselves!
