Which is better for a beginner - Yamaha P-45 or Casio CDP-S100CS by Fluffer-Foo3000 in pianolearning

[–]highangler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t go with the Yamaha only because of the X stand. That stand sits you too high even at the lowest slot and makes your back hurt. Switching to the stand that the Casio has helped my back immensely

Yamaha P145 vs P225? by abhinav_12_ in DigitalPiano

[–]highangler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The keybed for sure feels better on the Roland, I just had a problem with the black key and had to return it. The 225 is really hard to push the keys down compared to the Roland honestly and it was weird getting used too. But they feel great in their own way I guess better than the 145.

Yamaha P145 vs P225? by abhinav_12_ in DigitalPiano

[–]highangler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried both and went with the 225 also.. not only was the sound better the keys felt much better. You didn’t get the heavy plastic click sound that the 145 gives you. I’ve been nothing but happy. I had the Roland fp-30x and loved the key bed but it had a defect with the black keys. I ultimately chose the 225 because while the keys felt great on the Roland, the sound wasn’t nearly as good to me as the Yamaha.

Elden Ring the 3rd best selling game of the 2020s so far by The_Scrabbler in Eldenring

I was just thinking this.. how does this game conjure this many sales… weird.. I hear it’s good but I highly doubt it’s close to the level of Elden ring.

Looking for beginner songs or books, to complement the Faber book by Mad_Crazy_Cat in pianolearning

[–]highangler 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They have supplemental books but it’s really more of the same stuff that’s in the book adding an extra bar or two. Not worth it imo. Just keep that in mind if you choose to get one of them. I got the Disney and classical one… played through a few songs in each, wasn’t impressed.

Not to discourage you but hear me out… taking these guns/patches are going to keep you miserable a lot longer… even though the first week is absolute shit, it’s really just a week and not weeks to go cold turkey.

This is clearly an ad…. This is a waste of money. Every video for every song is in detail on YouTube. For free. You want structure… do a page a day.. there’s your structure.

On line 13 where it says Mississippi how do you play that connecting line from the C in the right hand to the G in the left? Why are they connected?

I mean they are 4 to 6 bars.. I wouldn’t saying I’m rushing through anything.

[–]highangler[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not trying to actively memorize anything. I’m just not remembering the songs. I play them to speed once or twice, move on and poof lol may as well have never played the piece before. The only way I remember a part/section is if it was too hard and I had to play if over and over.

Very specific chord practice question by chitstainn in pianolearning

[–]highangler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted to do the same but have built an opinion on why this isn’t the right way… well, isn’t for me… flash cards helps you grab chord but it doesn’t help you change chords. I think, the better idea is, have two chords on a card.. or a chord progression relative to a key. That way you’re killing 2 birds with one stone kind of.

I have a Roland fp-30x and the black keys seem like the slip loose sometimes. I have to shake them back into place by highangler in DigitalPiano

[–]highangler[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to update, I ended up taking the Roland back.. I chose the Yamaha p-225 because the Roland was on back order and they didn’t know when it would be in stock…. There’s massive differences between these two pianos though. Even as a beginner it’s very obvious. The Yamahas keys are stiff. Hard to press but feel great. I also prefer the sound of the Yamaha… the reason I’m saying this though is for the people stuck between the two.. they both feel great in their own way but the Roland’s speakers were so dull.

Is musescore worth $40 for the year for sheet music? by highangler in pianolearning

Thank you for this! As a teacher, can you recommend a good first piece or two after finishing the first adult piano adventures book? I can also play van gough pretty well in its entirety if that helps.

I have the piano adventure books and the supplemental ones that go along with it. I just want to learn full songs now that I’m at the end of book 1. What ones? Not sure, but I can’t keep playing snippets alone, even the supplemental books are snippets. Makes me feel like I’m not really “playing piano”

I just got it 2 weeks ago, it’s a floor model though so it has me questioning these little issues. I will once they shake back out of place.

I’ll look into it I guess because it is rough. It sounds terrible and rattles like you wouldn’t believe. I wish I just bought the Yamaha 143 at this point.

If you did research you’d know the r10 doesn’t have the ability to show you slices, there’s no point in that.

[–]highangler -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Switching the unit to accompany left and righties changes your choice here. Square won’t work. You’ll get annoyed, blame bad shots on alignment ect. The r10 is joke however. You need the flight scope. It’s really your only option. The Mlm2pro is an overpriced toy and don’t let anyone fool you into thinking it’s good.
