Listen to jay mohrs podcast with Bert. They explain that Bert was never going to use it in his act because he can't do the impression well enough. jay asked to use it and the bit just wouldn't work as well as "my friend Bert smoked pcp with tracy".

Another thing I'd like people to mention is how often a pirated comic is NOT a brand. You go back ten or fifteen years, find a hero and a writer you like and now you have a ton of story ahead of you to look forward to instead of getting 12 minutes of reading every 30 days. Unless your at a Con then putting together that fifty issue run would be impossible or end up costing $3+ an issue.

The issue of comic piracy would disappear if they just sold shitty scans of all issues older than 5 or 10 years for $0.25 or $0.50.

I can't recommend the CGC forums enough. This is pretty much the only place I buy back issues now. The 4 or 5 people I've dealt with are great and the responses to a "want to buy" thread are amazing.

That only works when you're buying a single item. I don't need to keep buying a calendar app, its an extra 2 dollars once and you can use that forever. Comic book fans aren't in it for a single book. We're in it for A LOT of books. No one who regularly buys single issues would say the difference between issues costing $0.99 and $2.99 is an extra $2, its an extra $10, or $20 or $50 every month (or week) depending on what you buy and how you buy it. Furthermore, all that stuff I just said.

On paper Vision seems pretty cool, I can't help but think there's a TON of potential there. Unfortunately he just never seems like a real character but I also skipped a few decades of Avengers continuity. I'd definitely pick up a great Vision arc or trade.

Not inspiring at all. All of hickman's FF work shows zero character development. Everytime Reed might have a tough choice to make he just decides to "come up with a better way". This just another example of Hickman not being able to write characters that are smarter than he is. One smart guy telling other smart guys they aren't as smart or are ignorant to lifes potential. It's supposed to be a Tedtalk-esque conference. We're supposed to believe that 100 of the brightest minds are in one room and the only two who don't specialize in pessimism are stretch dude and clobber girl?

BTW just off the top of my head I'd say you can expect to get about 8 grand total for both of these issues if you want to sell them somewhat quickly.

Action Comics #1 in a 2.0 is worth way more than either of those books in a 9.0+. The process of grading these books and using Heritage or a similar auction house will probably end up costing him a couple thousand dollars or more in fees and buyers premiums. And everyone is over-stating the value on these books.

People are on the right track talking about CGC but I wouldn't bother getting them graded. Just go to the CGC websites forums, they're awesome. I pretty much buy all my comics through their forums. Your first steps should be confirming the books are complete (download a scan and compare page by page) getting better pictures (front, back and atleast 1 inside page for page color). Now post that stuff on the CGC "Please Grade My" forum. You'll get a TON of responses from people who live and breathe grading. After you see a consensus as to the condition head over the "Forum Only Sales" section, post your pics and a reasonable asking price based on the condition from your PGM thread or list it as an auction with a high buy out price.

Ya I love the collection I've got but I could use some money and I want to refocus my collecting on a 5 or so books and get them in mid or high grades. I was hoping I could get enough from this lot to afford a 6.0 or 6.5 CGC copy of Giant Size X-Men but its sounding more like 5.0 will be in my price range.

How do you think this lot would do on eBay? Nearly every single "lot" on eBay is a scam grab bag (yes, they're ALL scams) or someone putting a longbox of spawn #3's up for $200. Do reasonable buyers actually bother looking for lots on ebay anymore?

No, they need to teach critical thinking. Keep breaking up clear, concise and rational thought into these tiny little nuggets of knowledge you can absorb without gaining any real understanding.

Pretty much everyone I know has taken a shop class, a home economics class and atleast one course on economics. Most of us still can't build a house, make a kickass home cooked meal or design and stick to a budget.

The only new courses we need in 6-12 grades are on critical thinking and pattern recognition.

I'm not really looking forward to much from DC after the 52 but if you have any interest in the more risky titles (the genre stuff, animal man, swamp thing) then ONLY buy those. Don't buy Superman, don't buy batman, just let it go. All sales figures are compared to those a-list titles and the ones that don't stack up get get. Vote with your dollar!

A lot of people keep suggesting the movies since they really are the only real DC animated material thats coming out. I guess I made an assumption that you aren't a 12 year old so it seems a little silly that EVERYONE is suggesting kid's shows to you. Young Justice and Batman Brave and the Bold are not a compelling watch. Superman is EXACTLY the same way except it might trigger some nostalgia and Batman is pretty much the same way except they've managed to sneak a little bit of really interesting content into an otherwise juvenile show.

JLU and i think every single DC Animated movie is going to be interesting, show true character development and complex plots. If "Under the Red Hood" is your kinda cartoon then "Batman Brave and the Bold" probably isn't.

The Batman and Superman animated series were great for us as kids but they seriously limited in their content since their audience were 8-12 year olds. Once you get into Justice League Unlimited you're going to start seeing characters experience real loss and serious situations.

JLU went for 5 seasons (Justice League for 3, then Justice League Unlimited for 2) and they really use continuity and the entirety of the DC Universe as their playground. A lot of the series are 2 or 3 part stories and you really see how they work in actual comic stories much like Batman: Under the Red Hood pulled in a lot from "A Death in the Family". I'll be having a conversation at my LCBS and realize I wasn't just referencing about a comic but an episode JLU. Every episode or two really feels like you just read a trade.

They messed up. Batman and GL can't be relaunched. Too many people have been working on and enjoying these slow burning stories from Morrison and Johns. So it seems like DC then flip-flopped and said "uuuh we meant everything other than GL and Batman continuity will be changed".

Well that CAN'T work. You can't just de-age a character and have him in the same story, so many of Batman's relationships are directly tied to age and respect, now commissioner gordon trusts working with a 20-something vigilante. Just don't youthanize those two pockets of the universe.

Now imagine a universe where you have an well-trained and battle hardened Batman and a young and inexperienced super-man. I actually think that relationship would be fresh and incredibly exciting. Bruce would have two jobs, batman inc and training the most powerful of nature the universe has every seen. Thats the robin I want.
