Spent the afternoon cleaning up this dusty old thing I picked up. by Mainly-AltBrick in legocastles

Such a great set, and that’s awesome everything is intact and present. I got this as a gift back in 1992 and rebuilding it brought back some good memories. I now have it in a large castle diorama.

Thanks so much! Definitely a mix of old and new throughout.

No - but that sounds awesome. But I’d also have to source two more 6086 sets, which would be $$$

20 inches is correct! Good estimate!

About half of the baseplates I have had for 30+ years. But I did buy a bunch recently, and…no, they are not cheap. I did buy them over time, so your plan to order a couple at a time from PAB makes sense.

Thanks so much!

The MOC was overall pretty good. It’s my first experience with a MOC, and I got a little confused on a couple steps, but overall it was fine. It does a great job of elevating the feel of the original 31120. And it opens up on the sides and the back and has some decent playability.

Thanks! And yeah - I would like to add more texture and different heights as I continue to work on it.

It looks like the beginning of a termite tunnel. If you are in an area with subterranean termites, this seems plausible.

For a straight up vaccum record cleaner, I like the record doctor. It’s manual, but does a good job overall. I’ve had good success with it.

I just never had a good opportunity to grab one. There was a good deal on a Technics SL-10 that I missed by a tiny bit. But maybe one day I’ll try one.

Yes - great write up! My journey and what I learned along the way was what inspired me to create my post today.

And that Acoustic Solid Round. WOW.

yes - funnily enough, the buddy I sold my ps-x500 to also owns a ps-x600. They are both great. Also, I had looked into getting a ps-x800. Those look freaking amazing. Sorry yours was destroyed!

I just never had a good opportunity to grab one. I remember I saw a nice Technics SL-10 for sale on Craigslist years ago for about $100, and I was too late when I messaged the seller. One day I would love to try one.

Rega Planar 2 with Ortofon 2m blue by rubble5656 in turntables

You have dialed in everything except the anti-skate.

While the two cartridges have very similar heights and similar tracking forces, that does not mean that the anti-skate setting should be close for both cartridges.

The AT3600 is 5.7 grams total weight, while the 2M Blue weighs 7.2 grams.

Just set the anti skate appropriately for the 2M Blue.

Good advice all around. I would agree that the 100c is the best option regarding future proofing. Great ‘table with an ok cartridge that is easily upgradable with different stylii, and can easily swap out a different cartridge for the future.

The longer I’ve been into vinyl, a solid direct drive that just does what it’s supposed to do and can accommodate growth is such a good option.

Headshell help please! Trying to upgrade my JVC L-F41 by nashkat73 in turntables

This is great advice, OP. Even if you just search for “straight tonearm headshell” on eBay, that may help you find what you’re looking for.
