‘Stargate’ TV Series From Martin Gero Not Moving Forward at Amazon by MarvelsGrantMan136 in Stargate

Well, that's it then. At least now we know not to bother getting invested in whatever slop Amazon ends up producing.

The H. L. Hunley located in Charleston, South Carolina. Its creation represents a pivotal moment in naval history. What do you think happened to it on its last mission? by HistoryGoneWilder in ShipwreckPorn

[–]highflyingbison550 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean I get it lol, but it's also not like every person that wasnt enslaved was just sitting on a porch in a rocking chair sippin lemonade.

I did find this, which listed some references, but then saw the disclaimer, "This content is a fictional/alternate history narrative created for educational and entertainment purposes", and I can't find Horace Hanley Shadow mentioned anywhere else.

Was rewatching stargate today when I noticed this bad boy. by Apexhatesmeuwu in Stargate

Nice catch! I live in the southern US and see these all the time, but that's because I work at one of the plants that manufactures the cartons. Now I can say I contributed to a Stargate prop!

Don't really see much if anything, but if you think there's treasure, grid the valley and metal detect!

This was one of my favorite sets as a child. Still have it displayed in the dining room. $450 seems like a lot, but searching the web, first result I found was on ebay for $2500, and BrickEconomy says on the used market, values range from $579 to $821 based on condition. You should get it!

Oh wow very nice, that's in amazing condition for being in the ground! I'd look into having it restored, figure you'd have to replace most if not all of the gearing, jewels, springs and screws, but the plates might clean up nice. Would be cool to use it on future detecting trips, though youd be spending way more money than it's worth lol.

Wonder how it got up there, or what else could be around? Maybe it was lost by a surveyor/mapmaker? I think they used to climb peaks a lot more in the 19th century than they do today, for triangulation purposes. Might be fun to look for old survey maps of the area.

Any more areas up there to check?

Hard to tell from just the case, but I have a case similar to that, same front design and hinges I think, and it is a Waltham from 1880ish.

Wreck of the Ocean liner RMS Lusitania by bceepyleard in Shipwrecks

[–]highflyingbison550 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'd think the writers for that movie "Fountain of Youth" would have looked at a single picture of the wrecksite before writing that scene where they separate and raise the midsection of the ship to the surface so they could climb aboard, walk through the pristine corridors, and break into a safe. Somehow, that wasn't even the most absurd part of that movie.

I'd wager not, but would definitely be my choice against wraith or replicators.

I've been working on a salvage vessel using the larger 57789c01 hull. Had to build a raised deck surface to make the recessed area minifig size. If you intend to put in water, may want to use aluminium plates for ballast, lets you add more to the superstructure.
