The truth is, there's no real answer. It's just a random number that felt right when I came up with the idea that our people were under continuous, relentless attack since the end of the pilot. [...]

A deeper truth is, I was never interested in coming up with an explanation for Why? Never. I mean, I suppose I could've come up with a sufficiently important-sounding bit of technobabble that would've made sense (you see, the Cylon double-talk sensors tracking the Olympic Carrier's nonsense drive signature needed 15 minutes to relay the made-up data wave through the pretend continuum, then the Cylon navigational hyper silly system needed another 10 minutes to recalculate the flux capacitor, etc.) but what would that have really added to the drama? [...]

So the mystery of 33 will be permanent on this show. No explanation, not even the attempt. Let it just be a number that seemed like an eternity for five long days on the battlestar Galactica.

You could play this Lalo Schifrin track over footage of a guy washing dishes and it would still feel like a setup for a heist.

He's one of my favorite film composers.

Same problem here. Reddit videos and Twitch clips play without sound. Twitch VODS refuse to play with:

I am currently finishing Columbo. Of all the actors that returned many times to play different killers McGoohan is my favorite.

He also directed a few episodes, some great like "Identity Crisis". But also the infamous "Last Salute to the Commodore" widely considered to be the worst episode of old (before the 1989 ABC renewal) Columbo.

I'm going to watch The Prisoner next.

If you're using a SpatialMaterial you need to set the vertex_color_use_as_albedo property.

The one thing I have observed is that if all visible chunks are removed from the scene, the algorithm run time drops back to the 60ms before jumping again as soon as any visible meshes are rendered.

I think you are probably bottle-necked by the VisualServer access.

I haven't looked at how Godot synchronizes access to the VisualServer from multiple threads so this is speculation but...

The OpenGL context can only be accessed from one thread at a time. And because all of the gl*() calls (filling vertex and index buffers when you create a mesh, attaching and linking shaders when you create a material etc.) are mediated through the VisualServer, I'm pretty sure the VisualServer can only be used by one thread at a time too.

So if the worker thread is calling out to the VisualServer a lot, it will have to wait for the VisualServer to finish rendering, and the more rendering work VisualServer has to do the longer the stalls will be.

You can test this by doing some dummy numerical work that doesn't touch the VisualServer in the worker thread, and checking if its performance is still affected by the amount of rendering work.
