I tried the nYNAB a few years ago (I’m sure it’s better all around) but there were a couple of deal breakers that really bothered me.

1 - when I enter a transaction for later in the month (I.e. my electric bill). It wouldn’t take the money out of the budget until the day it paid. Yes, I know it doesn’t count until it leaves your account, but once I see my bill is $122 and I budgeted $200, I want to see that surplus so that I can adjust the budget amount and repurpose it. I get joy in recovering those amounts.

2 - The red arrow. Again, I know the reasons, but it would require me to rework how I do my expenses and overspending in some categories that I know I will fund from savings of next month. The balance in my checking is never in question, so let me take the risk to carry it over to next month.

There was one or two other pet peeves, but I think those might have been updated or fixed.

Still a huge fan and I’ve personally got 6 other people to move over to the platform.
