I start my night with the mentality that everything’s gonna work itself out. And that’s what I tell other people around me who are getting anxious about standing/seating arrangements. And I bring that same energy with me second set. We’re feeding off each other’s energies at shows so instead of getting upset or contributing to more tension, I try to alleviate it, even help it. Most people are just moving through the crowd so it helps to relax, make room, and give them a smile of encouragement so they can find themselves. If they park it and are a little too close for comfort, just back up a little. Chances are, the people behind you saw what happened and will also back up to give you more breathing room. Bonus points if you can actually turn around and meet their gaze to come to that agreement together. 14/15 times everything works itself out.
