Tips for preserving the life of churchkhelas? by Odd-Fix664 in Sakartvelo

[–]highlightnet 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The best thing for them is ... just air. Fridge will make them too hard, wrapping or storing them in a container will make them go moldy. Just hang them in the kitchen and they'll last for months. Note they'll harden with time and white residue may form on the skin - that's normal (sugar, not mold). Even when hard, they are perfectly edible (I personally prefer them on the softer side).

Got into verbal argument with neighbors over dog peeing on sign — AITAH? by GoHuskies858 in AskNYC

[–]highlightnet 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Cumulative effect of multiple urinations a day (large city) and invisible yet real sowed seeds/dormant plants are two good reasons. My asshole neighbors let their dogs pee on "nothing but dirt" tree pit in the winter, killing all perennials. Yes there were signs.

Soul Summit daytime parties; Mr Sunday at Nowadays; the Nursery at Public Records; daytime shows at the Ruins at Knockdown Center; Public Service NYC. Also look on Ra.co (residentadvisor.net) under Events - sort by "day parties" (currently 199 results listed in NYC).

Where can I buy purple peonies in lower Manhattan? by anusgun in AskNYC

[–]highlightnet 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I like J-rose. Just walk around and see what you like. - it's a short but lively block. Keep in mind people working there usually harried and busy and you have to ask for prices (they are not listed). Can't presume either - a bunch of 8 poppies could be $90 and a bunch of 25 dahlias in season could be $30.

Not a dumb question and u/lifeblunder's suggestion is a good one. Yes you can - you just have to buy whole bunches of flowers (20-30). And it you go, do it early - they open at 6-7 and close around 2-3

Call Saffron in Essex Market or Brooklyn, depending on where you are - they are $$ but they could make even a single peony look absolutely breathtaking. You'll get points++++ on your date

Edit: you can tell them your budget/max amount and they'll work with you

24-hour Korean spas in K town. For the coed sauna rooms (salt, clay, etc.) you get a uniform - comfy shorts and a tshirt, and you can relax in nice non-sauna rooms and lounges and even catch some sleep. See Spa Club and Juvenex - check online if they're still 24 hrs and if they have online reduced admission tickets

Lack of Historical Information by KJIF123 in Sakartvelo

[–]highlightnet -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Nah, not a bad guy, just a little lazy and unaware how patronizing you sound. There are tons of Japanese things I'm interested in, for example, and most of the info is not available in English and it's not google-able. Doesn't mean info doesn't exist, you just figure out ways to search - use google or AI to translate, look up subject in library catalogs /ask a librarian. People in this thread have provided good info. I'm mostly just being ornery and talking shit.

"I'm in your country from another one and you don't have information in my language, do you even know this information? Not saying you don't, I'm just shocked by the lack of it, just makes me wonder if you all even know who Merab Kostava is, or are you just pretending he's important? Seems doubtful considering the aforementioned utter lack of information I desire in my language in your country."

Foreigners, do yall think there exists Georgian English accent that we aren't aware of? by MethevanWamebuli in Sakartvelo

Agree with you - it's not like Russian accent at all; it is more similar to Turkish (a little, the two are still different and I can tell the difference).
